Thanks guys. Funny thing I looked at this for 2 days on ebay. Maybe 30 times. Kept getting drawn back to it. Then last night as I'm looking at it my phone makes a Ching Ching sound which means someone bought something. I made $20 on the 26 s merc and said ok now it's $12.00 out of pocket have to have it

When I first looked at the photo I said to my self- too good to be genuine. but as I kept studying the coin I realized that it was not a fake. MS-67 probably full split bands.

with T-BOP. Probably split bands. Middle pair of bands may let it down a little. Maybe caused by a tiny die chip.
Small nick on the lowest pair of bands.
Excellent obverse strike for a 1942, and that factor must force the value up as well.

MS67 and $32 OK for me.

These are not uncommon in such a high grade, making it easier to believe it's righteous.

those are the sellers images? Even at the money, a wonderful price, I might have a bit of reservation due to the washout on the mirrors. You'll have to hope when it comes it is not overly dipped if at all. Flow lines are evident but so is a bit of porosity on the obverse relief or, and I'll refer to superdave here, is that actually just flow from the dies as well?

I am not trying to be a curmudgeon so forgive my comments as they are not meant to be negative. I just have what I consider a wealth of trial and error experience buying coins from photos online.

I'm seeing artifacts from lights of two differing color temperatures as well as from a high pixel pitch sensor. The latter confers a graininess (luminosity noise, I think) to images which resembles oversharpening or porosity. No guarantee it isn't porosity, but the jury should remain out until different images are available.

The texture looks normal to me for a sharply struck Mercury dime given the quality of of the picture. I also see die polishing lines, which probably add to the sparkly appearance. Both of these are in line with the norm for Denver dimes from the period. It might be held to 66 because of the spot on the neck. I would expect the luster to be on the frosty side and less cartwheely since it seems to be early die state.

I guess I would have to go with pcgs over anacs with this. Only because if it comes back ms 67 fsb I can put a $250.00 sticker on it and put it in my nieces collection. I have lost my battle with cancer so I've got less rhan a year and I want who ever helps her sell one day to know that even coins with high mintages can have value. Any thoughts on anacs and pcgs. Forget ngc. To many bad experiences.
