My father in law passed recently, I sorted through his coins, he had 75 1964 Kennedy halves, along with many others. I wanted to make sure mother in law knew what She had. I understand the position you are in, although at a smaller scale.

Not really. I've kept some stuff, sold some stuff etc. Don't know what I'll do with all those pennies, might just coin star em. This windfall of sorts took me away from morgans & vams but gave me a great base of general knowledge from dealing with it. I was so green back then (1yr ago lol, I'm a quick study) I'm now fully, well mostly, back to vams & toners.

No, there were only a few tins of wheats. I think I still have one tin and the rest I sold to a buddy for around 3c each by weight if I remember right. The big stash is mostly memorial, both pre & post 82, I pulled a few 2003 shrink wrapped bank rolls out of that Keg though. Without using an angle grinder the only option to get the coins out of the Keg is to roll shake them out of the bung hole (how many times do you get to use the phrase bung hole! I miss Bevis & Butthead lol)

Anyway, I don't have the time or enough inclination to search the memorials. It kills me thinking of how many varieties could be in there though. The WAM's & cam's, double ear 84, 95dd, 72dd, 69s, 70 sd's, etc. Hey let's go with a possible 83 bronze too, why not... I was thinking about enlisting some of the trusted big penny variety hunters here like John1 etc by way of Flat Rate Boxes and split any valuable varieties if they were interested but I never got around to asking then covered the stash with a blanket in my garage and there it's sat.

He was in his 70s I think. Had dementia since early 2000s. Before that he was the barter swap from b&m messagebords and club gatherings type. After and up until he passed he bought Littleton primarily and his wife would but him bank rolls of pennies and nickles which he would go through and she would scoop them all back in and he would get go through them again next week and repeat. Kinda mean but hey he always thought it was new stuff

I just stumbled upon this post, searching for something else. Nice inheritance! So did you ever start filling the book sets, or did you just leave them as is?

I'd like to have a problem like that...having to sort through someone's numismatic agglomeration.

InThanks for bringing this awesome thread back up guys. I have filled the Morgan dansco with only 2 to go and some others to varying degrees. Hole filling really doesn't excite me though. The buckets of pennies are still in my garage. O don't know what to do with them. Maybe I'll fill small priority flat rate boxes and sell them to variety hundreds here? I wonder if anyone would be interests in that. I'd hate to just dump them in coinstars. I bet there's some gems to be found.
