All really fantastic. Ignor critics since those are yours and all look fantastic. However, I could tell more if you'ld send them all to me for a closer inspection.  But might just get lost in the mail.  Those are a real lot of nice coins. |

Back off there, just carl...you've taken more than your share of nice Lincolns off the market! Cascade, what a great set to have passed down to you. Now you just have to decide - keep it as it is, or start the upgrade process.  |

I would say keep the coins in it and don't upgrade because your family member (chosed? Is chosed a word?) those coins to be in it. Very very awesome set you have there. Super it has the 1909 s vdb too.

"Chose" works just fine. It is, after all, the past tense of the word. OK, Cascade, I'm happy with the Big One as Die Pair 4. How'd he manage to get it clipped only on the reverse? Yes, I know what that is. |

I'm working on a lincoln dansco as well, without proof issues though. So far so good, working on all the pieces to grade VF+
Currently looking for a VF+ authentic graded by PCGS 1914 D and 1909 SVDB

Yup, I already had that notion on the albums I keep and to mark the coins already there... My fear with this whole thing lies in missing high premium varieties. Better dates, grades and keys I can jump around series on with little stumble. But the varieties, geeze. That's a whole different beast. I don't want to take a 3-4 figure loss on a coin due to my ignorance. But I'm not there yet, that's phase 4 and I'm still only just broaching phase 1

I'm totally on board with the 'leave as-is' notion. You can build your personal sets however you like but I feel you're honoring the person that put the set together by conserving/preserving rather than making any changes. |

Congrats on a great collection! I admit if I were you though I would put the folder-held LCMs in an album. I lost too many good coins to the Whitman folders. Despite what I thought was airtight storage years ago, evidently there was moisture in the cardboard of the folders that made the REVs lose their luster  How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash? My grandfather gave me a cookie tin full of wheats when I has 10 or so and a couple of Whitman folders. Unfortunately they got mixed in with other wheats and upgrades over the next couple of years. When I got back into collecting a couple of years ago and started filling albums all of the coins I had as a kid now lost their provenance. I had 2 SLQ's. 1 was a pre 1925 and the other one I can remember because of the circulated cameo. I had is slabbed so I wouldn't lose it in the mix int he future. Who slabs a G4 1923 SLQ worth $10? Someone who doesn't want to misplace it ever again. That is why I bought this 1927 a few years ago when I saw it. It must have meant something to someone otherwise they would not have paid to have it slabbed.  |
