If your getting them strictly for the silver then go for the ASE because they contain more silver don't they? I would get the Peace dollars first then the Morgans then the ASE,IMHO. John1  |

The answer is you buy it all !! That's my answer to your question... now where's my $20! (If I read the title correctly I am now entitled! bawahah ohh I'm killing me!) Okay seriously... $20 for a morgan is pretty good price and you just can beat old silver.. But morgans are .78 'ish ASW or just shy of an ounce in 'em... So getting ASE for $20 is boarderline.. I'm not sure what the local dealers charge with their premiums but if spot is around $16 with premiums you may be able to get the ASE cheaper at a dealer.. But I would be happy to pay $20 for a morgan I haven't checked the completed sales from ebay recently but that's at a price point where if you buy enough on volume you could also probably flip for a profit as well.. |

If you plan to buy these to stack silver then I would get the ASEs. (they have more silver at the same price) If you are adding to a collection then I would get the Morgans or the Peace. Maybe you can start a set of Peace dollars. |

So, what I am reading, and thinking is.. Generic: No real win there.. I saw a coupld of 80s Prospector rounds that are mildly collector, and would add to those that I have. but new and generic.. nah. ASE: Borderline.. I would still go for the 90s, because of the age. Condition seemed good. Also a 2005 Maple. thats scratched but an add to the collection. Morgan and Peace. I was assuming that cull, or close to cull would be borderline, so was cherry picking. I am aware of the VAM aspect, but thats a different level. The guy was nt too keen to let me pick through in too much detail. As its a 'we buy gold' place, I am having to do this through a safety barrier, I can handle them, but its not free and open. The 1921s were a safe option, on conditon.. but there was some older Morgans that I should look at again.. Most of the Peace were 22 and 23... I only like to buy a couple at a time.. Good times, its a good problem to have. |

The best I have seen on ASE is $95.00 for 5 (2015) and $92.95 for 5 (2015) Maples unless you buy like 20 and get a better deal.. 10oz bullion bars is the best price if your after silver .. |

I would go with the Morgans, especially if some are Uncirculated, or nearly so. $20 for nice Morgans = pretty good deal for any shop. $20 for ASE's = OK, but there might be better deals out there. $20 for rounds = definitely too much. |

$20 ASE is a pretty decent price, but I don't feel like this coin can net what a classic collector coin like a Morgan would. So I'd have to agree that a Morgan may be a good deal. I personally stay away from all 1921 Morgans that I find even in great condition. I also stay away from all 1922/1923 Peace dollars. I think that eventually Peace dollars will go up quite a bit in price due to them being somewhat short in their years and several dates only have 1 million or so in them and they still sell for cheap. EDIT: I should mention that I just picked up 5 Morgans of varying dates (no key) for $20 each and all in a nicer condition with very little wear. Also I got a 1924 Peace dollar for $17 and a 1940 Walking Liberty half dollar thrown in for $3 Edited by JoggingLiberty

Make sure you take a strong magnet, unless you are afraid to tick off the seller.
I asked my LCS the price of a 10 oz Sunshine bar. "$14 dollars" he said, of the bar he had on display. "It's nickel".

So, 1921 Morgans, are they generally lower prices in LCS now? I don't shop around form them much. Less potential?

Ok, so to be awkward, if now the question is:
For $20, low graded early Morgan? Near or at UNC 1921 Morgan? Or 1922/23 Mid level grade Peace?

Check the years on the Eagles. Some of the older dates are really taking off!

He just opened a roll of 2009 Eagles.
They started off at $20 (got a few)
a couple of days later $18, (got a couple more)
And then yesterday $16 (got a few more).
Now I have run out of money.
He said he was going to melt the rest, which makes me want to cry...
