Do not make an offer as it can backfire on you since she may think you are taking advantage of her and she won't sell the coins. Do not tell you only want certain coins out of the sets. Ask her what she wants for them all that way she feels that she feels is in control. If it is reasonable just pay it. If it is too much then you can begin to negotiate a price which is satisfactory to the both of you. Whatever you do not want you can always use as trading material or whatever.

Thanks for the advice all! GR, I was thinking 2.5 face for an offer so thought your post was kind of funny. @Gyrene, unfortunately I already told her about the halves and also she didn't even know what she wanted for them they weren't out with all the other estate sale items. I asked if she had any and she looked a little surprised and said yeah she had to run inside to get them. So she has until Saturday when we go back to look up how much she would want to sell them for.

Or you could do something for the coin collecting world and suggest she starts a coin collection and save them all. Who knows maybe being nice may end up being worth something. Might even get you those cheaper.

I might make sure she really wants to sell something her grandfather gave her. They might not mean much to her now, but in the future....
....I have a few things from my grandfather, and they are loaded with sentimental value now.

Sentimental value has no dollar value attached.

True looking at finances I don't think I will be able to buy that many of them, so who knows she may just want to keep them. I will give her that choice and won't be pushy at all about it. As for getting just halves on ebay, I would have to pay almost the amount of the entire set IMO so I would think especially for the earlier ones to just get the set and sell the others for $.50-$1 each. But we will see and I will let you know how it all goes down tomorrow! Thanks for the advice!

Update: wasn't able to get them yesterday due to weather but went today to see what she wanted for the sets. She told me she wanted $100 for all the 1984-2011 sets! She said she looked them up and that is what she wanted because she wanted them to go to someone who would appreciate them. Not a bad day whatsoever! :D

That's a heck of a good deal! Especially on some of the later sets starting 2008 or so - a couple of those alone and you've paid for most of the deal.
Nice score!

Thanks! And I am starting to feel like Billy Mays... Because "wait! There's more!" There was also a 1992 silver proof set too that I didn't notice!

Wow! You made a great deal. Sounds like there may be some Dansco albums in your future.

Yeah I thought about that but especially with the modern stuff (except Kennedy halves) I am leaning towards one of everything so I got the halves I needed to be complete from 1964-2011 (except a 1979 var. 2 and 1976 silver proof)! The rest I will sell off to recoup the cost but also I am planning on donating a couple of the proof sets to the CCF Kids thing once Bob gets back to me on what the process is for that.. time to give back a little for everything I have learned on this forum! :D
