Quote:What is a decent deal for on of these albums. I'm just wondering cause I'm planning on selling a indian head library of coins album on ebay soon. It just depends on the particular album. The Franklin albums are quite common and don't command much of a premium. This one didn't cost me any more than a new Whitman would have. But some of the rare ones, like the Type Set or Trade dollars can go for $100 or more. As usual, they best way to price something on ebay is to look at the past few months of completed sales. Just doing a quick search myself, it doesn't look like the Indian Head cents albums are going for very much: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...045573.m1684

Ok still good though I didn't pay too much for it at my lcs. I thought it looked super cool though.
However I just realize all my indian heads are in a folder, so maybe I should just keep it :/

I would definitely swap them over to the album, then. If only so you can see both sides of the coins.

You will be much happier with them in the album.

Maybe I don't know it was a set I started when I was 10 so idk with circulated coins. I don't really plan on expanding it in near future but I might move them over. I only paid $2 for the album and it was in great shape.

That's a really cool album, nice score!
I am having a bit of a hard time determining from the photos if there are plastic slides to protect the coins like in Danscos/Whitmans.

If anyone is interested in these albums, I found a good seller for these - Chief coin and supply. They seem to specialize in older "vintage" albums and actually have quite a few varieties in new or used condition. I purchased this particular one from a different ebay seller as I won on a low bid, but I bought some rare Whitman Canada albums and some used Danscos from Chief that I received tonight. I'd definitely recommend checking out his site: http://www.chiefcoinandsupply.comThey have great prices on used Whitman and Danscos, too.

Are these albums really safe for circulated coins if kept in a normal safe enviroment with low him it's and constant temperatures? No PVC issues in the slides or anything?

Quote: No PVC issues in the slides or anything? They are usually made from acetate. However, if they were PVC they would probably be okay. The slides (unlike flips) are very rigid, so there is no need for the softener (plasticizers) that make PVC bad. PVC on its own is okay, the plasticizers cause the problem for coins.

Yeah I got mine for $2.00. I like to buy stuff at the coin shop cheaply that I think I can resell. Ended up getting a old Jefferson nickle folder and Whitman album for the same price. The folder was vintage and looked brand new. I'm going to fill it up with some of my extras 1938-1964 hoard and try selling it.

I love the album tkb! Nice start on filling it too! I had to use a modern one for my Frankins as I also wanted to include the proofs and have it filled except for the 1950 - 1954 proofs. I have a couple of those albums here at the house and will use them when the time is right. Great find!

So with a week gone by, I'm a little worried about the cloth tape binding on this album. It seems like it has become a bit brittle due to age. I'm going to have to be careful about opening it and closing it.
