Hi,

From what I know, PCGS labels and certification numbers have the grade of the coin in them.

For example, and XF40 coin would have a cert. number like

XXXXXX.40/XXXXXXX

But what if a coin gets a details grade. Is there a certain number they put depending on whether it is cleaned, polished, environmental damage, etc?

Yes they do. For pcgs I believe a cleaned coin is a 92 code while say environmental damage is 96 or 98 I think. Pcgs does NOT give a numerical grade to a details coin like say anacs. Only a ballpark like xf, au, unc, etc...
