Being unfamiliar with silver eagles, are they struck once or do they get struck twice? Thanks, Doug.

I know its Machine Doubling...I am just wondering if anyone else has found any. First time I've found anything on a ASE...usually they are pretty perfect.

I don't have many ASW's but none of mine show any MD. As you stated, they are mostly near perfect in appearance.

At the beginning of the year a received a roll with 11 2015 double dates or DDO's, so they are out there but not that many. I believe this is the third posting on them this year on this forum. Mild Machine Doubling. I just want to know if anyone has sent any in for attribution so we can get a error number for this particular coin.

I saw one or two that were sold on ebay with the same kind of doubling. A machine must have been loose or something ...No variety attribution so far that I know of. Everyone is saying Machine Doubling. Even if ,there aren't too many ASEs out there with any type of error. Most of the time they are perfect. I had someone offer me a 100$ for it and I passed it down,so I am not the only one who thinks they are neat if someone is willing to pay that much of a premium.

I did sell a few on ebay and got decent money, so that almost paid for the roll, plus I kept a few of the best ones for myself. I'm just waiting for someone to get one attributed or graded, I just love to have something different and I really like error coins anyways. It's a really good find that's for sure and I don't think many are out there.

This thread made me look at some of my eagles and I must say a good handful have decent md doubling on the dates. Some better than.the op's. Never really thought about looking at my ASE's. I'll post some pics if anyone wants

Quote:It is machine damage. With the devices incuse, they are enlarged by the die. (opposite of a raised device that is a doubled die) They are very common on the ATB Quarters. I'm confused. The OP was referring to an ASE, right? Coop, what incuse lettering are you referring to on an ASE?

Yes I said they had a mild machine movement with double dates or possible DDO's. The whole obverse had Machine Doubling not just the date on my coins.

The motto and some parts of the design on mine have MD as well. Not just the date. Pretty neat for a ASE.
