AU 53/55. Probably cleaned or dipped at one time, too.

Not liking the look of this coin. I'm thinking polished. Technical grade? AU-55.

Based on the 62-O seen in your other post....

If this coin is from the same source it is most likely counterfeit also.

Definitely looks polished or cleaned in some way. High grade otherwise. 53 I would say.

To be honest, it looks fake to me. The mint mark especially which looks too small and in the wrong spot. The bottom serif of the N in United is damaged. The reverse lettering especially the O's look wrong. The date has a fatty appearance.

Yes, I've looked at several examples on Heritage before anyone jumps on me for suggesting this is fake.

Took me about 3 seconds to determine it was fake. Good job MV! Kind of disappointed in everyone else.

Just look at the date. The numerals are far to thick. The relief is far too shallow, and the details are not crisp.

Here is a real one for comparisson.

The rare Aluminum Liberty Seated dollar, clearly a pattern specimen.

Now I kind of feel dumb... I really have to study some of the older classic US coins better.

ChildoftheWheat no need to feel dumb it takes time to develop the "something is off about this coin" sense.

When I first viewed this the first thing I noticed was the tiny mark. That alone made me think fake.

I could have simply posted fake and been done with it. However, I think it's beneficial to point out the flaws so other members can learn.
