Here's mine... The Kennedy's are the hardest for me but the other two are considered 'key' due to limited mintage numbers.

I'm a big fan of Jefferson nickels, especially pre 1960 uncirculated and proofs up to 1964. To echo GR58, there are some real nice toners out there. To me, this is the most underrated series.

Silver Roosies. Overlooked issue. When the Mint FINALLY gets around to changing the coin's design LOTS of people are going to get caught short.

I'm with the Jeffersonians. Beside my lifelong Lincoln love, putting together a set of BU Jefferson nickels was my first serious attempt at collecting at the serious level. Although I've seen ads for complete AU sets for $395 etc., I couldn't do it the easy and more economical way. I did it piece by hard-won piece. It was a bit melancholy when I got that last glowing 1944-S!

I have to admit that I get a little weak in the knees when I see a stunning 1950-D nickel. It brings back memories of being a kid and hunting for that elusive key date, and being convinced I'd never get one unless someone gave it to me as a present.
And putting together a gorgeous BU set of common dates is a great idea. Though they're not rare, they're beautiful to look at. I think that's one of the many reasons we all collect coins--to have something beautiful to look at.

1950-D Jefferson, because it was the closest to a "key" date anything I could afford as a kid; 1964 Roosevelt, for no other reason than I like the toning; 1970-D Kennedy—even though it's a strike not meant for circulation—because this was the other "key" date I could afford as a kid, and I was certain it would make me fabulously wealthy.

I really like the looks of gem bu War Nickels. especially with full steps. Silver roosie's in ch.to gem bu are very underrated .Wait for them to pop when Silver does. Never found Kennedy halves interesting, but picked up an original gem roll of 1968-D's in my early years for $12 .

I always keep 1938 Jefferson nickels, with or without mintmark. I just like the smaller upper loop of "8", and the very much exaggerated "3".
