I generally do not like images of people.

Give some some stylized Liberty, animals, or probably even cool geometric designs!

The first time I received a Presidential dollar in change, I thought someone slipped me a Chuck E. Cheese token.

I think the US should go back to liberty figures.

I agree. I understand the whole concept of honoring great presidents and whatnot, but I would much prefer to keep Liberty on the coins and erect a statue or something.

I love the classics but I wouldn't want them to revive the designs. I want them to remain special.

I agree. I would not mind some new designs using the classic style, but I do not want them to bring any particular one back for circulation.

No more Presidential heads. We are not a monarchy. New classic designs should be sought from artists of today

The classics of course. There is a good reason why some things are popular for a very long time, and others fade quickly. Some of my most accurate rifles are over 100 years old. I prefer to drive my '64 pickup over the '98, and it never breaks down or needs repairs. Pizza or the latest test food from McD's? Jabber Rap is novel, but they will be forgotten while the classics live on. And pretty girls? I prefer claassic beauty and fashion to someone that is just seeking attention with shock value.

I must say that no classic inspired design will ever help modern coins as long as they are low relief, and that will not change as long as we have to mint billions every year.

The people have spoken. 31:3.

I prefer classic designs though ironically I collect mainly moderns.

I agree as well. I would not want my favorite classic coins cheapened by modern versions. The only advantages I can see to reviving classic designs would be 1) to educate the public about classic designs (most people wouldn't care, though) and 2) to CRHers, since people might get used to seeing, say, Indian Head cents in change and spend older ones (still unlikely).

I suppose it would be more accurate to say 'modern designs with portraits that attempt to look realistic'. Two-thirds and three-quarters view portraits will never look good in low relief. As far as I'm concerned regarding relief, if you've got to use those portraits, go high or go home. Since high relief coins are more expensive and difficult to produce, I think we should go back to either side views or classic depictions of Liberty (I would prefer the latter).

The image on the aureate dollar reminds me of ancient Roman realism. I woud think that most of the general Public that would use this coin would prefer to see Washington in a realistic way, than in an idealized way.

The image of Liberty walking reminds me of the high classic period in ancient Greek art. Same applies to the other side of the coin also.

I don't think the Washington dollar is that bad compared to the later presidents. Anyway, I agree with others in that the common reverse makes them look like game tokens. For examples of some of the less attractive designs, here are the coins of 2008 & 2012. Arthur and Harrison are the worst, in my opinion.

Classics for sure. I prefer their designs as well as how the coins had more depth/relief to them. Modern coins are so flat.
