Calling All Nickel Searchers *please Help*

Seal - our fellow enthusiasts covered it well. I also look for clashes and high grade 82/83 PD specimens. Also 88 and 92 if it suits me.

With cents you can pull modern DDRs until your fingers fall off. Much busier than finding keepers in nickels. I probably keep 10-15 nickels a box. A couple lower mintage dates/mms, 6 or so high grades and 5 or so error/variety nickels. DD coins in business strikes are harder to find especially worn. The 1939 DDR is an exception but I'm still looking. But the War Nickels have a ton of rpms, the 50s a few rpm/omm and a number of 60s DDRs. Much easier to detect when in high grades. And as you note the 70s forward are light. But finding high grade 70s and early 80s is a treat and tough to come by.

For the Bar Nickel - I only see it for the 1960D over the 0 - are there others years/areas affected with this same issue?

Thanks for the invite Ocala, with 2 kids my weekends are pretty full. But I may be able to get there on Saturday. That would be a great experience, especially for a newbie like me.

Thanks Rackster, this post is great and I am learning a ton about nickels now. Most of what I research is on the Lincolns and with these new nickel discoveries (for me) I find my self a little rejuvenated. I have been doing more research and less posting lately. I am trying to learn what the DDO look is and the coin making process.

The bar over the zero is best, but still qualifies as a Bar Nickel over any digit in the date.

I don't think we ever stop learning. All it takes is interest.
