There are a fairly large number of collectors who collect nautical coins. When I bought and sold world coins I had a good dozen buyers who wanted a shot at every coin I got with a ship, or even marine life, or light towers, or anything like that.
I would hazard to guess that between world coins and tokens there are probably THOUSANDS of different issues.
A really wonderful type of collection to pursue because you learn so much, so much history, and have an absolutely beautiful collection too.
If I were you I'd be sure and get a Standard Catalogue of World Coins and just start at page one and work your way through the entire book, listing anything of interest.
I'm sure it will give you a huge range of items to pursue. I do hope you have a ton of fun in such an arena.

I collect coins with animals on them so I love the idea of a themed collection!

Indeed ... LP to the CCF. You will fid many experts here willing to support your collecting efforts. Your interest in a ship theme collection is commendable and as others have stated you could find potentially thousands of ship theme coins ... enough to last a lifetime of collecting. Seeing that you are registered in the USA ... I politely suggest that you have an opportunity to collect as well USA nautical themed coins ... There are five coins in the USA classic silver commemorative series that feature sailing ships as the reverse motif ... You can find them with some research ... list is 1920/1921 Pilgrim, 1924 Huguenot, 1935 Hudson, 1936 Delaware and 1936 Long Island. Best of wishes with you collecting. David

Wonderful and nice collections of nautical coins! Well, I would want to collect coins too. Actually, I have a few here but I guess, I'm just not good in naming or sorting it. I understand that these coins are worth the money and has its intrinsic value.

Because there are so many, I try to stick mostly with one of each type instead of a date collection of ship coins. At the moment, I'm trying to concentrate on Conder tokens having ships. But I get distracted by other coins. (I know, I know, Conder tokens are *tokens* and not coins. But I don't collect tokens.)
