I shouldn't be surprised that others spotted it too...not so sure on the surface condition of that one. I guess I was lucky with mine.

That's a nice early die state coin, too-note the crisp and clear shift on E PLURIBUS UNUM. Those are much more desirable that the usually seen late die state examples.

Nice 'pick!

Sorry this is so late. Life got in the way!

As I thought would be the case after others saw mine and gave opinions, mine is not a DDR. The pics fooled me. Now I have a nice (?) cleaned 1946 as a reminder that I need to learn more about pics of coins on ebay and how I was led to think the one I got was doubled.

@RK55 - for some reason, I did not get your PM, but very much appreciate your having sent it to me anyway. Also I thank you for the list of pick up points.

I might just continue the hunt - if for nothing else - to further my education!

Thanks...the earlier die state makes it much more desirable to me too.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but what ever happened to the other DDR that both of you spotted? If it didn't sell, did the seller re-list it?

I don't think it sold, and I deleted it off my watch list so I don't have who the seller was.

RK55, you seem like the expert with regard to these. Do you have all your finds aggregated in one thread? I forget who it was that hunted the 1873 1c DDO and submitted 10+ for grading at once, but that thread was a fun read. Perchance, do you have something similar?

Druu, here is a small sample of what I have at my side. I have sold a few "spares" off, MS64 Cert, MS-63 Cert, (3) Cert AU's 1-AU55 and 2 AU58's. and a few VG-XF.

I have not added any recently, but I think I have about 15 total.

Thanks for the peek into the vault! What's the threshold for grading? MS?

I haven't seen an unattributed one in a slab yet, and the XF/AU example I posted for grading recently is my highest grade coin. I came across another and I couldn't resist buying it. Looks better in hand than in seller's pics, but it's in the F/VF range I think.

I have cherry picked one slabbed NGC MS63 (unattributed) and sent in to ANACS and it came back MS62 but with the DDR designation. Very hard to find, my first and only one. Someone here at the forum cherry picked a MS64 or 65 slabbed as I recall.
I still buy the vg-vf 46 DDR's, its more of the chase than it is the value. I see less and less.

I think you have caught the fever.

Edited:
here is a cherry pic of the NGC MS-63,of course the seller pics were not as clear as these.

Nice! I blame Thulium, who's accidentally creating competition for himself.. He got me and Spruett looking for CAM proof cents, and the three of us ended up with a 1999 CAM cent proof set each in the very short span of a few weeks. I'm usually over at the modern coin error and variety subforum, but I wandered over here, and many of Thulium's guides are helpful.

If you had resubmitted the 63 to NGC, couldn't you just pay a reholder fee plus variety attribution fee and keep the higher grade?

yes probably but I like dealing with ANACS. old school here. I flipped it for a decent profit so I am happy.

I will have to start looking for CAM proof cents when the DDR walkers dry up.....jk

Alright, who beat me to this one?

I didn't have my snipe tabs set up because I thought the auction would end three minutes later than it actually did. Hopefully, someone on ccf got it. Actually, best case would be the winner backs out and I get it as the underbidder!
