Wouldn't you get more by selling on Heritage with all the notes and the wrapper, can't be that many out there.

Blunt question to RobinBanks, the OP - why are you not engaged in this discussion?

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry that I am really not on this site regularly as many of you are. I took a huge loss on this lot as I had this lot consigned. The seller is one of the leading Antique/collectible sellers on ebay, so they have a huge following where everyone just bids on anything they sell. I am sick to my stomach as I may have taken the wrong route and possibly made more if I sold this myself. But I just didn't have the time and effort to take a photo of each note. It's a good thing I held off on consigning the other remaining notes. I will probably sell the other notes individually myself. Thanks for all your interest on this thread.

Sorry this happened to you as I was pulling for a better outcome. The notes ended up in the range of about where they should have sold for at retail based on what could be seen (several had pink ink stains probably from a random teller stamp). I believe I estimated 150 to 200$ each.

The problem I saw was the notes, along with several other items, were all being bidded on by the same bidder. It was almost comical. I suspect stuff was getting shilled. It happens. IF they were being shilled it ended being to your advantage as the price ended up on the high end of the estimate.

If by chance the high bidder does not pay work with the consignment company and do a different marketing strategy. Maybe break the group up into smaller lots.

Good luck with the remainder of your notes!

Someone mentioned Heritage auction as an option but it would take a good 3-4 months to get results. They would need to get the notes 2 months prior then once the auction ends, it will take another 90 days to get paid.
I also noticed that some of the bidders were all over the place. I questioned it myself but I truly believe that they have such a loyal following that you will see the same bidders on certain items. They were voted #1 Antiques and collectible dealer on ebay. But anyways, if I would have sold the notes myself with that final bid then I would have done ok. Consignment rate killed the sale for me.

Just curious.....what was the consignment % rate you had to pay?

As far as them being voted the #1 antiques and collectible dealer on ebay? Really? I never knew there was an election for that sorta stuff!

They were awarded by ebay as the #1 Antiques/Collectibles store. as far as the consignment rate, they gave me a break from their regular consignment rate. I can't divulge that information since it's a special rate they gave me.

ebay doles out colored star ratings and % feedback approvals but I have NEVER heard of a Seller being told "hey, you are the number one Seller in your listing category!"

Oh well.... you live and learn! Whatever you have left you will be better off selling them yourself and doing high quality scans and listings.

Good luck!

Right, agree.

Been on ebay a long time and have never heard of #1 rankings.
