My understanding is the bills are not in order anymore, and there are going to be 40 million if you can't get at face who cares

I picked up a strap of 100 bills, and the number sequencing, is really off. there is a number missing here and there. lots of number runs, but then missing a bill.no replacement notes that I can detect..

My bundle of 100 bills were not consecutive from 1-100 either. There were runs of 2, 3, 4, and up to 10. Lot of spaces in between.

You can't detect replacement notes since they got rid of the asterisk decades ago; nor do they uses x in prefixes.

Replacement notes are determined by a range of serial numbers.

I didn't see any posts about the height of the bank notes but in the bundle that I got about a dozen notes are about a millimeter higher than the rest. You can see it if you stand your stack so they are upright .
Anyone know the reason for this?

It appears they're following the 2015 queen's reign way of doing it and not making replacements. They just continue printing until the contracted quantity has been met.

Picked up 46 at my bank today, that's all the cash I had on me.
When I asked the teller how many they had she asked her supervisor and the reply was "thousands".
I kept three of the nicest consecutives, then traded 40 for 100's at another bank.

I'll put the three next to the 30 1867-1967 notes untouched in the TD Bank envelope since I bought them 50 years ago as a reminder of how much they are likely to increase in value in the next 50 years. Considering inflation the 1967 notes are worth only a fraction of the $30 I paid for them.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I got some nice consecutive prefixes ending in 1850-1899 (including 1867 !)

As well as some within 1900-1979

Wonder what the interest is for those within the collector community?

Thanks!
