The u.s. mint should put the old quarter reverse design right in the trash where the old, boring, worn out thing belongs. They should then finish out the national parks, which imo is a better series than the states. Then bring on the new eagle which is hopefully way nicer than the last painfully boring one.

Here is what is going to happen... They will eventually kill off the cent after they successfully convince Jarden to make zinc five cent planchets. These new Zinckles ® will have an all new design since no one associated with the Jefferson Legacy or the Monticello will want anything to do with these atrocities. Of course, you can look forward to YouTube videos of people "dissolve-racing" these Zinckles ® against Alka-Seltzer ® tablets (the Zinckles ® never lose).

I sure hope jbuck is wrong. The u.s. mint should do us all a favor and never release a zinc coin again.

I hope I am wrong as well. However, as most of you know, the only reason why we still have the stinkin' Zincolns is because of the zinc lobby. I figure that the only way we could get rid of the cent is to shift that zinc to the nickel.

Here's to hoping the government kicks the zinc lobby in the chin. It would be nice.....

Shouldn't it be "Zinckels"?

Spruett, You're up early! The real problem is, when they stop making coins, just what are all the Little Johnnies in the garage going to do from then on? Take Daddy's old Ike's and start practicing on those? I know a reversed image SBA didn't help her one bit, don't think Ike or the Eagle will look good inside out...

Quote:Shouldn't it be "Zinckels"? Well, Zinckle and Zinckel are both surnames. I knew some Zinckels in my youth, and they were good people, so I chose not to offend by associating them with this wretched idea. If I offended any Zinckles out there, I apologize, but maybe you should have befriended me sooner.

I nominate an effigy of jbuck for the OBV of the new zinckle design. The buffalo (OK - bison) should be retained on the REV... maybe wearing a saddle ensconced with Ike dollars on the trim.

Well, for the record, I look just as bald as Ike, but he was no Kojak you know. Ike had hair, just not a lot of it. I do keep a really tight haircut. Low maintenance. And yes, I am getting older every day.
