If it's "old" coins from China, why bother dealing?

Excellent counterfeit coins are coming out from Hong Kong and China.

I get these types of emails each day. Your odds of buying counterfeits are 99.9%. I leave that .1% in just in case they actually mess up and send the original used to make the counterfeit.

Stay away, as far away as you can. This is a very typical coin scam from Asia. Mike

I haven't received that particular ad, however I have gotten several fraud e-mails in recent days -- supposedly from ebay and PayPal. Can't be too careful anymore.

I get a lot of emails similar to this one every day. They are set to go to my spam folder and I report them to blue security and delete them.

Richard, that's just two of us so far. Given that the email came to my regular address rather than the alias address to which I usually receive spam, I would guess it was purloined off a coin site, but not CCF or other forum since our addresses are double-hidden. Same/same ebay. It may be from another auction site or from a coin catalog site; I'll have to give this some thought and research.

I also receive one or two " ebay" or "PayPal" messages per week, but these always go to my alias address which is the first indicator they're fake.

Fred

As long as the sender puts mycoins.us at the end of the e-mail address I will get it. So my First clue that something is not right is when I get mail addressed to nohope587@mycoins.us. This e-mail however was addressed to my correct address so the sender has gone to a little bit of trouble to research his potential victims.

I actually did get that same email (twice). Both came to my coin community email addresses. This is interesting since I don't use my coin community email addresses on ebay. Go figure.

I'm so sick of spammers and scammers!

Just to put your minds at rest, it is not possible to get exact email addresses from this site. They are very well hidden and can only be accessed by an Administrator.

So, it seems he (she?) is targeting coin collectors; in our three instances, reasonably knowledgeable coin collectors who aren't about to fall for a scam like this. It would make more sense if he targeted casual or non-collectors who would be more vulnerable. Of course, we have no idea how many of these messages he sent out, but it can't be all that many since he went to so much trouble to dig up addresses which are not easily found. Of course, he could be as dumb as his English is bad in his marketing strategy.

I think he/she used babelfish to translate his ad the mail has that automatic translation feel to it. All they need are a few bites at the prices they want to make this profitable send out 1000 emails and get 20 bites at say and average of $100 each thats $2000 return for a couple of days work minus the few dollars for the fake coins. Using Google/yahoo clubs I could come up with at least 1000 collectors e-mail addresses in a few minutes.

It occurred to me that we are, in fact the target. He is looking for an ethics-challenged coin collector to peddle his fake coins (presumably on ebay), someone along the lines of pjd 1966 aka pamim003 aka estatedoctor.

Unfortunately, there are lots out there to pick from. I'm sure he'll find someone quickly.

Hi everyone. Been out of pocket. I didn't get that email, but I got another one. This is the first time and I really didn't understand what I was being offered. It came to me with a link attached, to the CC. It was getting to be tedious trying to figure out the babelspeak so I just deleted it.
