Oh in my case, my goal was definitely to aim for profits because that is how I funded my collecting. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to so I gotta make what I can when I can. Although now at this point I am selling off everything so doesn't matter to much now. I sometimes in the past did the "Buy 3, sell 2, keep 1 cheap" when it was something I really liked. This ASE was not something I had to have though, so at the time it was something to help with my type set.

Thanks FOX... To define a true collector, Like Myself a collector of an object, NOT for resale, Not to pull the package apart, But to have the Object for their collection,in the true sense of a collection, to have and treasure for decades and decades to come, because this is what is wanted, whether it be a slab, a coin or a complete set of the both. To have an education about said collection to further one's knowledge towards the collection. A person who has specific intentions with the object, NOT for resale to fund collecting, I would be a speculator in the market, which I am not........ While I know there are plenty of people here on this and other sites, Whatever floats Your boat, Me, I have been collecting since 1963 at 8 years of age, Which reminds Me, Where are the Original members of this site, the OZ'S ETAL....The knowledge they held was top notch and their willingness to share the same, Priceless..... They were true collectors, IMO PS, I re-read Your post about the term "condescending to some collectors " This is nor ever was, My intention......

I bought one set because I wanted the the coins and I didn't have the silver proof set and because the ASE S will be a key coin! Also I believe that if you buy to make a profit by selling that's great but most of the posts I see on here are from people that enjoy collecting.I am looking forward to the new coins in 2018 a lot of nice sounding sets coming up

I personally enjoy collecting more when I do not worry about selling or future value, but I do not have anything against those who just want to buy the "winners" in case they need to sell. Nor do I have anything against those who only do this for investment or profit. To each their own.

I received mine last week on Thu, the same day the Liberty set went on sale. Of course I ordered at work and got the mailing in my mailbox when I got home. Oh well, I will be making one more purchase before it expires and I'll take advantage of it for that order.

Glad I got my one. If only for that accursed S-Proof ASE.

Anyone have a final mintage number for the 2017-S ASE across all product offerings? I am feeling the urg to turn mine into a pocked piece for some reason.

Quote: I am feeling the urg to turn mine into a pocked piece for some reason Kind of a disservice to a proof and especially a 125k mintage one of decent present and potential value but...go with your gut. I would agree with even a W as a PP but dropping a $120 Congrats coin to a $20 piece of silver doesn't compute in my mind
