A lot of 100 of these went for 16250, somebody did good. Not a ton of buying yet but more coming up for sell every day, more unopened boxes too. Graded sets are out. 170's buying price, a graded proof in 69 went for 150. They sold out fast enough and many are being dumped through the bay.

My rant was one day early . Sets arrived this morning in mint state. Yes, patience really is a virtue!

So are those just non-saleable returns due to damage, etc? And what happens to those? Get destroyed?

So I'm confused. Some here bought the set BECAUSE of the S ASE and not wanting to pay $120-140 for just the Congrats set.

...and then sold the set because the profit would be less by holding it? So now back to square one with no S ASE....

It was suggested to just buy the graded S at around $85 and be done with it which made MUCH more sense to me especially if you were worried about the aftermarket selling price.

So it was profit not the collectible S that was the drive...

Fox, I am confused about You being confused! LOL. I do believe the " Coin Collectors " here are interested in the ASE-S sets for the collectable factor, NOT all collectors are bottom line driven, I for one collect original packaged United States Mint products for just that, the coins/medals in their original package, I know there are plenty of collectors here that are collectors of the same. Your post never mentioned the true collector, just those driven by the costs..... Be Well!!!!

Define that? I don't disagree with your point that collectors did buy it, but anytime I see that term it generally is condescending to some collectors unfortunately

MD...I was commenting on this post which sounds like it was from a collector ("I may miss the S") but tried to get a profit

It's hard to do both except maybe in quantity...(on some issues buy 3 ...sell two...collect the one at minimal net cost...but it seems not with most recent issues)

Oh in my case, my goal was definitely to aim for profits because that is how I funded my collecting. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to so I gotta make what I can when I can. Although now at this point I am selling off everything so doesn't matter to much now. I sometimes in the past did the "Buy 3, sell 2, keep 1 cheap" when it was something I really liked. This ASE was not something I had to have though, so at the time it was something to help with my type set.

Understand completely...I am very near to transitioning from a accumulate mode to sell mode...I just can't get myself to pull the trigger. Maybe next month
