When I first started searching for RPMs, that was the most desirous one, and the hardest one to get. Then as time went on I fan into someone who had a whole roll of these he want to sell. So examples are out there, they just take longer to find sometimes. Probably the hardest one to find is 1960D-1MM-011. Most people don't have one of these. (I still don't) I just finally got an image of one recently:

Probably a million out there and because of the images from the past in the RPM book, (the image looked like damage in the book) is not found very often. Probably one of the un-listed examples I have and haven't checked again to see if it is in my un-known files.

I wish you would'a told me sooner coop; I just went through 2,500 of them and I do recall the date markers and columns...the die chip in the your cornice, is that always there?

Good news tho', I still have 2,500 more 1960's from the same batch to go thru!

First you need to find the variety. The markers are just to help identify the die state. To go backwards with the markers first, doesn't work. The dies pretty much breakdown in the same manners as they do the same thing over and over. Same even befall them. So the markers maybe present, but that doesn't mean it is that die pair. If you were to look for die chips on column 12. That would fit the bill for most of the coins that year. It was a common event. So the correct way is the find the variety first. Because then you can see if your coin is an earlier/later die state than your coin.

Great, thanks coop! I do plan to look at the mm but I was wondering about the die chip because I do recall some of the other markers but not that one...

The depression issue occurs a lot less, but the chip won't be there on earlier die states and could be even larger on later die states, or the reverse die maybe changed out. So you might still miss it by looking for from just view markers. The best way is to look for the RPM first.

I probably have hundreds like that. I have two rolls of the same minor RPMs alone. (1 roll each)
