Looks like a partial cut planchet to me. If it were damage from the rim of another coin, that area would be wider? I sent a note to Mike Diamond on this one.

Thanks for the help so far, I'm Definetly curious as to what exactly this might be. Any more info or opinions is greatly appreciated. Also am curious to the value if it does happen to be either an incomplete punch error or partial cut planchet! Thanks

I would have thought that Crazybo was right until stoneman227 posted the link to an incomplete cut planchet. I learned something new today as this is an error that I was not aware of.

If it is determined that is indeed what you have then this is an exceptional find in my opinion

I was not previously aware of this error either, and looking into it more and seeing some pictures of other's it does certainly seems like that is what it is. Thanks!

Yes, it's an incomplete punch.

So, thats awesome and exciting news! I really appreciate the help. What would an approximate value on this be, doing research on incomplete punch error's I can't find much besides the explanation of what it is and how it happens. And a little about the rarity of it. So how rare would you say this is? Ive been collecting wheat pennys for awhile and I am glad this penny for some reason got enough curiousity to sign up for this page and post about it. Definetly alot of help!

Probably won't find a price on ebay. It doesn't happen all that often.
