LIBERTY is much too strong for Die Pair #1. Take it to your LCS for an opinion first. I don't believe this coin is worth the cost of submitting.  |

The 1922-D also can have a reverse die crack across the O. Hard to see in these pics, but I also think this might be a 1922-D with the D removed. The strength of the obverse letters doesn't seem consistent with the known die pairs for the no D.

Look on line coppercoins.com and there is an in-depth explanation of the four known dies of the 1922. It might seem a little confusing but it will sink in if you compare your coin to the four illistrated. You will see that the differences are not subtle but very well defined. Like the others said your coin has 3 major no goes from the get go and the fourth being the straight die crack running through O of one doesn't appear to be the jogging die crack "found on both the no D weak reverse and no D varieties" but yours looks to be the straight die crack. The straight crack is found on some normal 1922 D cents and also on some with grease filled mintmarks "weak D". Confused yet? No need, refer back to the coppercoins pics. and you will nail it. There are members on the Forum who can break it all down expertly. Tanman where you at?  . Check out the literal dozens of past detailed posts on the 1922 and you will see other questionable coins similar to yours. Here is an altered coin I bought for $50.00 after this I learned all about the 1922 cent the hard way.  Edited by luvmyCAM

I enhanced the OPs second photo a bit, altering the lighting and contrast. I agree with the upthread comments that this looks tooled to remove the mint mark. Here is the enhanced photo:  |

They are also counterfeited as well.  Sold with out a copy stamped on them for dirt cheap. So watch out for these if your buying coins. |

I agree with others who said it appears tooled. It is definitely not Die Pair #2, and does not appear to match any of the known "Weak D" die pairs.
