I am just so turned off with US coinage. It's boring as heck. The same dead person forever on there and blah blah blah. Time to modernize to reflect current times IMO. And get rid of the penny already! Geesh!

I'm with you, Force. Think back to the beauty of Mercury dimes, Standing Liberty quarters and Walking Liberty halves. Why can't they do designs like that anymore?

U.S. coins aside for the moment... I think your coin avatar, Force, the "young head" Elisabeth is one of the most beautiful coin portraits ever! I understand they felt the aging of the Queen over the years was important, but there is no other beautiful coin portraits to be found anywhere else, especially on silver!

I'm sure I'll get corrected, but as of the moment no new multi-year programs are proposed. Instead, we'll get another 67 year run on a single design commemorative.

Nothing official yet, but the plan seems to be the single rev design (Washington crossing the Delaware) til 2026, then possibly a commemorative design on all the coins for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. After that they seem to have a plan for a five coin series on animals and a five coin series on youth sports. Whether each of the five coin series would be five coins in one year or one coin a year for five years I don't know, but I think they were leaning toward the latter. That would take us through 2037. (I wouldn't be surprised though if they did something special in 2032 for the 100th anniversary of the Washington quarter. And that would be a fitting divider between the Animal and sports series.)

And of course a 100th anniversary coin for the Jefferson nickel in 2038.

But we do have the Ammerican Innovation program if you find yourself getting bored.

There was an article in Coin World several months ago mentioning something like this -- it seemed more like the Mint and Treasury Department being open to design changes and making suggestions, but nothing beyond that (which would require Congressional approval anyway). Has there been an update?

Which is why I said "nothing official". I haven't heard anything new since then either.

Found the article: https://www.coinworld.com/news/prec...sary-in-2026

You also said "plan" (twice) which sounded more advanced than what I remembered from the article. The article has the details you mentioned (which is more than I remembered) but we're still .

From the article it sounds like all denominations will be affected.

I've posted this some time ago, but it seems to fit here again.

Cents, nickels, and dimes will not get the snub like they did in '76.

Really wouldn't bother me. It will be interesting to see how long the Roosevelt dime goes w/o a re-design!

I'm with you merclover, the mint should get rid of the dead people and get some truly artistic designs on our coinage.

Personally I like the different quarter reverses, granted some of the artwork is bland and boring. However, there are some that are inspirational.

There doesn't appear to be anything introduced in Congress beyond the usual rain of commemorative coin programs...
