Not really a "find" when somebody gives you a 1909 S VDB. Its still a nice coin. Now, I know this may rain on your parade, but I would let the person that send it to you know its worth $950. I doubt that she knew what she sent you. Its only fair.

I tried to take pictures before hand also, they did not come out well either. I will bring this coin to a coin shop for appraisal once the virus is under control. Thank you all for your feedback.

If you are going to send it in for grading you should also include conservation as well. I know that NGC will only conserve a coin if it'll improve it. So you really have nothing to lose if you conserve it.

Better pics] are needed.
I use an iPhone and have no problems photographing coins. As suggested, try removing it from the 2x2 holder first, and get as close as you can, using a single light source. The built-in camera has a zoom that will automatically kick in. Keep trying!

CONGRATS!
The reverse looks pretty legit, probably F12-VF range coin. If it is genuine, which none of us can tell from these pictures, it badly needs conservation by a professional. I can see is has moderate level verdigris. The obverse, even with the blurr, looks discolored, corroded and possibly cleaned. Whatever you do, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE COIN with anything.
