What continues to amaze me about this variety is there are so few known examples. Coop has pointed out before that it was probably pulled from production early once it was discovered. The "thin/skinny" tops of the motto (USOA) are usually caused by severe die polishing on an older die.
Here's a question about the "thinness" of the tops of the letters of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. What else other than die polishing can cause these "thin/skinny" letters? I love a good mystery and this is definitely one.

They may have tried to save the die polishing the edges. I've seen this before on a normal die.  When it is done just on the edge of the die, it makes it look tapered like this coin:  So they may have tried to make it return back into service, but then pulled as there are not many of these in circulation.  |

@levelsofmadnes thanks for the info I will get in contact with your contact as soon as I get it to a TPG. Was there a reason why you didn't have any buyers when you tried to auction it off? |

Thats the real deal. I would send it off to PCGS. As for a price, I HIGHLY doubt in this condition its more than $1k.

Hello Etako808, None of these have sold so there is only the estimate of what the value is. On http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...ie_state=mds, he list an MS63 at $3000. WHY NO BIDDERS? Maybe the opening bid of $3000 was not right or maybe interested buyers didn't know there was one up for auction. Make no mistake, I am a noob when it comes to pricing a coin and picked the price of $3000. I think it was LuvMyCams recommending Great Collections as an auction house. The advantage of Great Collections is you do not have sellers fees if the auction sells for more then $1000. There is a buyers fee. Your cost will be a listing fee of ten dollars I think? Good luck on what ever your plans are with your find. But when it comes back from grading, WE all would like to see new pictures  . thanks |

I have never seen an accurate price on Coppercoins. PCGS has the MS63RB one priced at $500 but who knows how along ago that was from.
