Thanks to all who replied, but ... 1. I can't take credit for a "find." Bought it on ebay. 2. Can't take a closer close-up with the camera I have. Already in super-macro mode. Wish I had better equipment.

Have you tried experimenting with a magnifying glass? Then take an image through that to enlarge the image?

Nice close-up pic. The only thing I would suggest is to try to take the pic head-on, not at an angle.

Still a nice DDO. Somebody has to buy them for them to be worth a premium.

merclover - "1. I can't take credit for a "find." Bought it on ebay." if nobody ever bought coins for more the face value, then no coin would be worth anything more than face value. So buying a coin should not be anything to worry about. You can still take credit.

You can take great pics with a phone camera and a setup similar to the one in this thread: http://goccf.com/t/160092But go through the thread to the end as the system was simplified over time. I experimented and found three 6.88 LED desk lamps from Walmart worked fine (have a diffuser alreay built in): https:// (Offsite URL shortening not allowed-1) /y5fztjrv I also just used a stack of books to lay my camera on top of. Also if you zoom when taking the photo you could get a fuzzy picture. Instead take a photo normal and zoom in when you crop the photo.

When taking images never use the zoom enlarger to take an image. Use the normal setting with a glass to get a closer view.

There is nothing in the least unusual about the reverse of this coin, and that is why I didn't take and post a picture of it.
