Would it be safe to say this is a transitional penny as well ( 1982 or 1983 ) giving the Close AM and full copper? Should I send it in to 3rd party for authentication? |

It's RDV-004, which means 1974-1985. Judging by the strike it looks to be a mid 70's coin.

This is a secondary brockage arising from a clashed cap strike. A late-stage die cap contacted the reverse die directly, picking up a partial design. It then proceeded to strike the next few planchets, one of which is your coin. This is why you have a strong, raised ghost of Lincoln in conjunction with a relatively unexpanded brockage.

Porkchop. You're right its RDV-007, that's my bad. But, uh, it's not copper. It weights 2.5G, which means zinc.

So my thinking is to send it off for grading since the mints have stepped up their level striking. It may be worth more 20 years from now?  |

If it gets more valuable in the future consider sending it at that time, if that time ever comes you may consider sending it in. doing so now would cost you more than the coin is currently worth.
