I agree, old silver doesn't stay blast white, even my ASE coins I've owned for 3 decades have toning near the rims which I find attractive and they were in cheap snap holders.

Nice buy sir.

On the average of opinions, (at the same grade)
would it be valued more, if it was blast white?

On a picture such as this, I would think very tiny nicks and scratches are much harder to find under a strong patina.
Lovely coin, anyway, and graded to support that claim. Protected as well, now easily handled for close in hand examination, and therefore less argument about the grade.

The best Walker in my collection is only a 63, same date, with about the same sharpness of strike.

That depends on the buyers and what they like.
As an old-timer I prefer blast white.

Amazing pickup! Personally I think the toning is nice and it's got just the right amount of white in it. Is this one going in your type set?

Probably about the same. Blast whites are very common in this series, and the low amount of toning on this example is not likely to carry a notable premium.

You bet! A huge upgrade over my (low end) MS62. Now I only need 2 more halves. I want to upgrade my capped bust from EF-40 to MS-63 and I need a VG-08/10 FH.

Grape, like I said before you win the internet!

I'm not a buyer of super high grade coins/notes pretty much anything, but I always drool when I see what you buy!

As a proponent for originality, I absolutely love it.
Excellent strike, and the toning not only gives it character but supports that it's not been messed with.
Wonderful addition, Grapes.

Thanks hfjacinto! I prefer to buy occasionally, and when I do, buy to impress (myself).

@hadley, that's why I liked it. The combination of surface originality, strike, luster, and overall quality was very attractive to me, as was the aforementioned price.

That is certainly an excellent upgrade! And although not a toning fan, I appreciate the toning here is somewhat subtle adds to the aesthetics vs blacker toning. very nice pick up.

Thanks sai and scorpu!

Finding well struck WLHD is quite hard, and it is often that if one part is well struck then the others aren't.
