WOW! Looks like someone had a pile of rare coins and somehow got them over there.

OK, why is it so hard to imagine these would end up in the UK? Its not like there hasnt been international travel between here and there since before the US was a country.

That being said, IF you found an S VDB along with this, it was clearly a collection that got out of crazy uncle Larry's estate with no one knowing about it. It does happen. I see nothing that tells me this is anything but real. I would definitely send both in to ANACS and see what they say.

It's not so difficult to imagine them in the UK, but rather that two such rarities would show up together in a handful of coins. I searched tens of thousands of cents when I was younger and never found either of these, and I'm sure I speak for many.

Amen, Coinfrog!

Our lucky poster is fortunate to have the collective wisdom of the CCF members to
help solve this happy little problem.

That being said, I bought a lovely San Francisco dime from a lady in England. From the late 1890s dimes were sent to The Philippines and came back to the US cleaned. Coins DO travel the pond and that is part of the mystery. One has been repatriated and now sits in my album.

That is a NICE Indian Head cent.

I hope these links work. I'm struggling with the photo size limit here.

That's pictures of the other cents that were in the box - other than the 1909 - which I've obviously put somewhere "safe" as I can't find it.
