Quote: The other day received a 100 Lane Macklem HJH I guess the BOC prints a wack of 100 -Yes, the HJH prefix has been documented for the $100 (with the Lane-Macklem signature combo). This occurred once the GKL to GKZ prefixes were used up. It has been the last prefix documented (& Rogers-Macklem signature combo is next) so the prefix may be a change-over. Likewise, for the $50, when GMN to GMZ prefixes were used, the next prefix has been HHA & it is possible this is a change-over too. However the highest number has been about 9.53M with Lane Macklem, so the next signature (if it is a change-over) a high # Rogers-Macklem HHA would be more desirable.

Quote: The other day received a 100 Lane Macklem HJH I guess the BOC prints a wack of 100 The BoC does not detail how many banknotes of each denomination are in circulation. The last time the BoC did it in an annual report was in the one from 2019. Perhaps, the BoC publishes these figures somewhere else on their website. However, I have not found them yet. If you have, please, let me know. Figures can be found on the website of the Bank of International Settlements though. Here are the latest figures which are from 2021: Number of Bank notes in circulation at the end of December 2021: $5: 338.000.000 compared to end of December 2020: +11,92% $10: 169.000.000 compared to end of December 2020: -2,31% $20: 1.055.000.000 compared to end of December 2020: +0,86% $50: 417.200.000 compared to end of December 2020: +0,38% $100: 689.300.000 compared to end of December 2020: +12,98%total: 2.668.500.000 compared to end of December 2020: +4,75% Yes, the $10 note is having a very difficult time in Canada. And yes, 80 million $100 notes were added to circulation in 2021. Looking forward to see/find the numbers for 2022.

In fact, I expected it to be double that amount DECREASE of TENS b/c when I tried to get new $10 notes it was nearly impossible during the pandemic. Just old ratty tens & about 5 new prefixes until fall of 2022. It will be interesting to see the next Bank report b/c Canadians demanded more $50.00 notes & they finally dumped a great deal of new $10 prefixes. In fact, when you go to the bank, it is actually difficult to get the older 2013 MacDonald version these days.

Probably too logical, why didn"t the CBN start the new signatures with HAA prefix or you guess they already printed 10 H prefixes with the old govenors ?

Quote: why didn"t the CBN start the new signatures with HAA prefix or you guess they already printed 10 H prefixes with the old govenors ? Sr Deputy Governor Wilkins quit her position after her 1st term. It may have been unexpected (I don't know) but they then hired Rogers from outside the BoC. This was unusual too as they typically choose 1 of the many Deputy Governors. But I'm sure Governor Tiff Macklem may have had a hand in shaking things up (he expected to be Governor after serving with Mark Carney & was passed over). Mcklem quit the BoC & only was hired back as governor after Poloz left (that's a 1st too). There was about a 10 month gap between Wilkins & Rogers taking over. So Timothy Lane stepped in to act as a Senior Deputy Governor for the interim (most of 2022). They used his signature as the demand for new notes was created due to the pandemic. Rogers started her post as Senior Deputy Governor in December 2022. See for a comprehensive list of Governors & Senior Deputy Govs:https://www.bankofcanada.ca/about/g...bank-canada/

Is it worth saving any of these? I.e. would anyone pay for them or is the point to add them to the data base and then spend? Also the ind and ink that seemed like keepers are just common now and spendable?

Quote: Is it worth saving any of these? I.e. would anyone pay for them or is the point to add them to the data base and then spend? Also the ind and ink that seemed like keepers are just common now and spendable? -Good question & like collecting "depends on many factors but mainly quality of your note/whether you can afford to set it aside." Generally: I wouldn't keep any of the common change-over prefixes (3-5M) unless UNC but I would keep the last change-overs listed until more info comes out (are they common or uncommon) or ? This is a basic summary (if I don't mention a prefix- should UNC): FIVES:HBG must be in UNC (as large qty released in certain regions of Canada). Replacement were tough. IND (Wilkins-Macklem) -I'd keep in AU to UNC. Still a bit ? but seems tough INK- Lane-Macklem in UNC. INS ? (little data to go on but I've found 1) TENS:FTH: definitely keep in any condition (M-C or M-P) CDF & Wilkins-Poloz FFE (should be AU - UNC) TWENTIES:BSW: any condition FVP (Wilkins-Poloz) tough VF to UNC FZT: Lane-Macklem any condition since ? (none seen to date!) FIFTIES:AMK: any condition (even AMG was tough to find but I have not seen any increase in Charlton so may be a spender). GHD (Macklem-Carney) VF & up (around 50 reported in SNDB) GMM ? HUNDRED:EKZ: any condition. FKN: below 1.39M ? The other prefixes are ? for me as I just don't follow this denomination much TBH.

Thank you for that. Now at least I can get rid of stuff I was unsure of. Also if I have anything worth keeping

Figured it was time to bump this SIGNATURE/Prefix Change-over & Limits thread (note new signatures/prefixes released at a snail's pace with CDN's using less cash). Quote: Thank you for sharing!... Agree very good info, thanks. You're welcome (& hope you find it useful)! Also to note: this year (2026) they're supposed to roll out the new $20 vertical design (with King Charles portrait) so many collectors will be tracking the tail end of QEII $20. This will likely drag out since we know they printed a run of "Lane-Macklem" Twenties but we have only seen a tiny fraction of them (since 2023!) I just completed a RAW enquiry on the CPMF SNDB & discovered that a small number of the FZY & FZZ prefixes were found/reported (to the SNDB) from ON, Quebec & Sask as late as Feb 2026. So the rest of the Lane-Macklem prefixes ( FLA & beyond) for the $20 should roll out this year.

I just reread this incorrect statement: Quote: Also to note: this year (2026) they're supposed to roll out the new $20 vertical design (with King Charles portrait) so many collectors will be tracking the tail end of QEII $20. Apparently the new King Charles vertical note is supposed to roll out next year 2027 which also means that there's no timeline for the $5 (nor the $50 & $100).
