Those added photos have me really puzzled now...wondering if the eagles left claw and leg is the results of wear or weak strike..and then the "scratches" in the 2nd set of photos... First set of pixs...MB-62 or au-58... Second set of pixs...au-details This coins got me...

Scratches bring it back to AU-50.
Would have been 55 without most of them.

I'd put this at AU55, her hand and the eagles talon have seen some circulation.
I'd guess you paid maybe $630

I'd say AU-55, possibly details from the hairlines. Maybe $500?

That's a straight grade all day long in Trade dollars. AU53 or AU55 probably, and what you paid? Around $430.00-$460.00

those field hairlines are mostly from some heavy die polishing. a few are actual scratches like the one on the right knee but these are not enough to details the coin imo so I'm with westcoin on this one AU55 straight.

Quote:That's a straight grade all day long in Trade dollars. That's why I'll never collect Trade dollars. Quote: those field hairlines are mostly from some heavy die polishing. But they are in all different directions on the obverse, I don't understand? In the first photos you can see southeast and east lines. In the second set you can see northeast lines. Regardless of the lines, still looks cleaned based on color.

Quote: But they are in all different directions on the obverse, I don't understand? MIKE1487 - polish lines not always go in the same direction. what you are looking for is if they cross over the devices rather than just the fields. there are very few that do that like the one on the knee. there is no way with that heavy of polishing that they would not cross over the devices if this was from cleaning. for the most part they appear to be arcing left to right
