People are still buying them in advance on ebay for around $300 or a little more. Lucky for the sellers that the buyers are not going to the mint page where they can subscribe to them for about $185. edit: As I edit this a few hours later, the mint's subscribe option has changed to "remind me". Some got lucky at $185!

Most 'normal' people don't know that you can buy directly from the mint.

IMO, If the U S Mint rides the Peace dollars Series to Celebrate the Original Series, They WELL go to the 100TH Anniversary of the 1935 Mintage, 2035 Would Appear to be the " Montauk " ( The End ) of that Series, But They Always Seem, to have Contenders for Sweet Future Coinages I Love the New and Original Beauty s, Reverse Proofs , Proofs Wow Uncirculated Super WOW....

Quote:I'm a big fan of Peace dollars; Morgans not at all. I'll buy the reverse-proof duo but not sure if I should dump the Morgan or keep it with the Peace dollar. This is me as well. I find Morgans ugly. Still, I'm keeping my RP Morgans. One to keep in the OGP set, and the other because, meh, it's already in my possession, and just in case it's required as part of a future 21st century type set album.

I agree that the 2023 will have some popularity for the PROOFS and REVERSE PROOFS as those were not previously available. At 250,000 for the RP and 400,000 for the PROOFS with most being stored away by collectors in their original condition there isn't going to be a huge upside to the value due to rarity or finding a top grade example (unless there was some condition rarity that happens only occasionally such as in 2021). If there is reverse proofs and proofs also annually that will further dilute future versions demand. If they were mentioned as a one year event I'd be on those as they were not in 2021 However the popularity will be there initially since they are the first, but not for the uncirculated as there is really no reason for a 2023 version (or annual) (102 year anniversary ) The current resale values on ebay confirm that below 2x even graded 70s. Of course we have collectors *ahem Dearborn, Morgans Dad and others* that collect every year of the ASEs so some may just like the collecting of the different years for a collection regardless and not care necessarily about the later value. The mint skipped last year so its still possible that future editions may not exist as expected related to silver availability for its use in coin production which is another wildcard. Always in motion, the future is - YODA

David, Always Thought Provoking, I Respectfully Disagree with the "DATA " . I Do Collect the American Silver/Gold Eagles Series, Like Many Do. I Collect Every Single Mint Marked U S Mint Issued Version. That said, Let's discuss the MORGAN and PEACE Silver Dollars of The Day, While I have been collecting the Morgan and Peace Series of 1878-1921 and 1921 to 1935, Peace series Not Consistent, No Coinage minted in 1929 to 1933 years. That series went to 1935. I had Originally Decided to Cease buying the MORGANS and Peace dollars of The Day, Thought I would Stop Collecting them, BUT NO!!!!! I had Revisited the Coins Offered, They Look Awesome, NOT mentioning the Historic Value, I See in Them All. Out of All of the Versions of Any U S Coinage, I am Favoring the UNCIRCULATED Versions ,. They seem to have a Traditional Paths, They are USUALLY the Lowest Minted Versions, That Most could care Less About. All well and Good, The Coins have an " Under Dog " Persona, and I Enjoy the Finishes Too.. While Your Data, Does Have Possibilities, My Thoughts are Differing... Most will Follow their Traditional Paths to collect as they All Wish, This Wish is Mine Too...... The Morgan silver dollars Were the Most collected Series, for a Dollar Coin, The Peace dollar Too has a Very Historic Past, To Have and Hold a Peace dollar Uncirculated Coin, 102 Years After the First Year, Also to Hold a MORGAN PROOF, Just Awesome After the Last one minted 102 Years Ago..... Out There are More of Us Too.......

Yes what you say makes sense where the new coins appeal to those who like the popular historic coins and perhaps also collected the originals, they look good and the finish of the uncirculated differs from the proofs and lower mintage (175,000). All makes sense to someone looking for general collecting on having them for a collection. I like them personally and own 2021s, even have an extra CC I may part with. I am just adding some thoughts that 2021 being an anniversary and also the first created a lot of demand, and if that was the only year would have made those extremely desirable as more people demand them but have just the low supply. In this case however we now have a 2023 version which doesn't share the anniversary and duplicates slightly some of the 2021 (other than the special issues like CC and O) and may further have annual release. The proofs and reverse proofs are new but again may not be one year only. So from a value standpoint I was just in the impression it will be hype than dying down except for the 2021s, conditional rarities, and one offs (like if the reverse proofs at 250,000 were only in 2023 and not every year or few years). No reason to not collect or have, only perhaps if your buying them to resale at a profit as some do.

David, I forgot to Add, Your 100% Correct, The Mintages are Too High. But, If the Usual Lowest Minted Versions are to Be, That Traditionally goes to the Uncirculated Coins. I Agree, That the 2021's were Much MORE desirable, Before the 2022'S that were NOT to be, At the U S Mint, Did not come out. Then, Low and Behold they came out with an Annual Release of the Morgans and Peace dollars, The 2023's... I see how they have an Anniversary date to work with as far as the Peace dollars go, Being they were minted from 1921 to 1928 and Again in 1934 and 1935. IMO, They will Most likely Match or continue the Same Peace dollar Series, For those Anniversary Years. 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2034, 2035. After that, Enhanced Reverse Proofs, For the Last Anniversary Year.. 2035 However, How does the U S Mint Justify Minting the Originally Designed Morgans, Being they were ONLY made up to 1921......... ( other than the Almighty Dollar ). I also Believe The Reverse Proof Sets will Be as Often as they Desire.......

To make things more interesting, I wonder if they'll mint the Morgan and Peace at the West Point Mint next year.
