Oops, got my pics mixed up. I have a Barber half with tarnish (toning) too. It would be a neat error coin worth $$$$$$$, but no, I messed up. Good catch.

By the way, what do you mean by dipping. What product are you referring to and does it harm?

I think (hope) dipping was a jest. Don't dip - it will only make things worse. If ya NEED to get ride of it - give me a call. I would keep it as is. Nice looking coin -  |

I agree. I prefer my coins toned, and would say that the toning added value; not detracted. Please don't dip.

I will leave them alone. But I do think I may replace my Dansco 7070 with a new one.

Waste of time and money. Your coins will not tone, tarnish, corrode if no air and/moisture can get to them regardless of what they are in. Even if the Album is soaked in Sulfur, nothing will happen if you just keep them from air/moisture. Do as I do. Place all albums in a zip lock bag and push out as much air as possible. I've been doing this long before there was a zip lock bag by just using a plastic bag for each album. Now have over 100 albums. Some are older than you I'd bet. And no coins are toning, tarnishing, corroding. And some have been the same for almost 50 to 60 years now. |

If you want to sell that old 7070 album without the coins of course... how much do you want for it? I am not sure I want to try the 7070, but if I could pick up an album on the cheap... I might start it half heartedly.

HEY SFWUSC, if there are local coin stores where you live, tell the owner you want to start a Dansco 7070 type set and ask if he can find you a used album. I told the local dealer here I wanted to find to used ones for my two kids to start and he dug two of them out of his back room and gave them to me knowing I would be buying many of the coins from him. Most dealers have a stash of old albums in the back from when they buy them from people.

I've having to make a judgement based on th "washed out photo and the lack of the rev photo, but I think that Seated quarter is probably pretty nice. I wish I could see a better picture of it. |

Yea my dealer has a table of old albums and folders that they sell. I don't think I have every actually paid for one though. I pick up a couple, then buy some coins ----he usually just charges me for the coins. :) I guess they don't really cost him anything, so why not give them away in hopes of selling more coins. The guy has/had a 1916d Mercury dime VG for $900. I thought about buying it, getting it graded, and then reselling it. I bet it would bring $2K on ebay. -SWUSC |
