the next - yet another numismatics' market ruining $2 - The RAM's top brass most likely had to go on an extensive overseas " fact finding mission " to Paris, London, New York, etc, and after three months of exhausting travelling, returned with an ingenious new concept for the next $2 coin series -" Water has been discovered to be wet ".
Brilliant !! they could release many more $2 coins with reverses depicting 1 bore water, 2 mineral water, 3 chlorinated water, 4 Melbourne's pristine Yarra water. Even a patients' water sample ....?
Yes, RAM, just keep pumping out more useless themed $2 coins and all you're now achieving is filling up your already over full warehouses with, yet, more unsold rubbish.

You people have an even worse problem than Canadians. At least our circulation coins have some relevance to significant events/ people in Canada. The cartoons, etc. are relegated to the NCLT which we can pretend do not count as real coins.

Why not release the 10th anniversary of the first colored coin in circulation?
There's enough time to make it happen

Its nearly 30 years since Bunnings had their first sausage sizzle. That would be about as relevant an anniversary to commemorate as any of the other junk ones the Mint has recognised. That would also create the opportunity to release another alphabet series of junk coins. Then Kmart could do it and Coles and petrol stations and .... Really the excuses for coin releases now are even worse than the Mint's release of them. What next?

My post was a joke post you know. Sadly I think RAM will probably mint a $2 coin on at least one of those things.
Australia 225 - That was a brain fart.
I actually wish New Zealand would mint some nice coloured $2 coins are not limited release of 400 coins at $159 each + $39.99 Postage and Handling.

I think the POMs are having serious tilt at beating that record!

Turns out the RAM reads this website . Quote: You may be on the right track though Princetane.... Bluey, would get the kids into coins for sure 11/6/2022 I wrote that. 3 coin set and single coins being released but not $2 ... $1 instead. I am tipping that these coins will be RED HOT I certainly would like them all. Good luck getting a set I reckon. Prices will skyrocket as usual on ebay before release day.

Getting kids into coin collecting would be a good thing. Hopefully the kids will be able to work out the value in what is being offered. It looks like the RAM are pumping out more junk coins (tokens) than genuine circulating coins. If the poor kids get hooked now and keep buying the junk (cartoon character-based or business-related) 'tokens', where will it stop and how much will it cost them to maintain a worthwhile collection? Australia Post shot themselves in the foot by mass producing stamps just to take advantage of collectors and now it looks like RAM are trying the same tactic. Good luck to them but I think newcomers need to be aware of what happens when we go cashless - are the new 'junk' coins really coins or just tokens then?

Quote: Getting kids into coin collecting would be a good thing. Yes,when I was at School in the 1960's(sigh!) we had a Coin/Stamp Dealer for a period a week in Social Studies, usually the most interesting period of the week ,at least for me. Local Dealer approached the local School up here on the North Coast of NSW to run a class(no cost to the School) and the Principal wasn't interested, when he was moved on he tried the new Principal with the same result so he gave up. Times have sure changed.
