This coin appears egg shaped or "out of round" and so PMD.

Anyone's guess what caused the PMD, but it is not an error. John1

Quote: but not sure of what value it may have. As a badly damaged coin it has no numismatist value. Just for being a wheat back. 5 cents

to the CCF This is indeed a curiosity - no clue how it was produced but it did not leave the mint that way.

Looks like the coin was circulation damaged. (should be underweight a small amount) But something was added to the coin afterwards, like a spark from a welder or something like brazing? The coin was normal when struck, circulated for many years and altered later on. Not a mint error.

1920? Hmmmm That little guy looks like he's been through the war - quite literally or perhaps damaged in the aftermath or post-war clean-up. It would make for a good story though. I suppose it could have been around during WWII as well.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and opinions. My dreams of scoring a big one with this coin have exploded and shattered, just like Lincoln's head! First time visiting here and enjoyed it, so will follow up with other coins shortly.

Interesting PMD, I would have looked at it twice.

to the CCF Looks like it was hit with a hammer on the reverse, the obverse took the indents of the surface it was placed on.
