I could see a VF-25. Any problem free 1817 is a win in my eyes, good buy.

I received the coin and took a picture of it on my desk at work several weeks back and it looked like this. I figured the color in the seller photos were probably not representative but close enough. I noticed the odd shapes in the field between the right wing and "RICA" and elsewhere on the reverse which I did note in the sellers photos. Well, I decided, why not soak it in acetone and see how it comes out. Obverse okay, reverse not so much, lol. It almost looks like something was splashed on it at some point. Okay stupid, now what, I thought. Having read so many helpful posts on the CCF, I decided to place it on a windowsill for some sun, reverse side only. Decided to go check on it today after a few weeks. I have to admit I was surprised at how quickly the color turned. The last two picks are definitely under much brighter lighting. Now I just need to learn to leave well enough alone!

Many times there is a desire to improve something but agree that the before pics have a much softer aged look that I like. the acetone revealed what was underneath and brightened up this old silver.

Cointagous, after seeing the results of the acetone, I was kicking myself as I liked the original look too. Live and learn.
Smat45, I was seriously thinking about placing it outside somewhere but then thought a squirrel or some other critter might snag it or it would simply disappear.
And Jacrispies, trust me, you don't want your coins anywhere near this amateur. I am feeling lucky though, maybe I'll fetch a lotto ticket.
