How Best To Tell If A Coin Hasbben Cleaned.

grr601 Valued Member United States 95 Posts	Posted Yesterday 9:43 pm I have a question for people far more knowledegable than me. I have been collecting coins since I was a lad in the early 1960's. My favorites have always been Mercury dimes. I never thought I would ever get to this point, but I have completed the set to include the 1916-D and both of the 1942/41 overdates. I have recently decided to try to upgrade the set with everything except the 16-D being at least Fine or better. There are a lot for sale out there that look really nice. My question to all concerns how to tell if a coin, particularly a small one like a dime has been cleaned. I know some are obvious, but some not so much. What are the more subtle things to look for? Use the seach coin communinty line and you'll find prior posts. There's also Youtube videos about it. I assume with small coins it can be more difficult to tell.
