Ok, thanks for the clarification. I am still working to wrap my head around what is and isn't part of each die clash. As you said, the lowest devices and fields clash first because they are highest on the die. That makes total sense. But that clash in front of the ear has to be deep in the die cavity, because the ear is a high point on the bust.

For some reason it seems like the only people who avidly list these things are Lincoln Cent collectors. There are hardly and Washington clashes listed and I have a dozen or so. Very cool clash btw. I have a couple of those I got in change.

Thanks, guys. Will, I used to take more time with sending in for attribution and listing but have gotten lazy. Sometimes they don't even make it into a 2x2 but tossed in a can.

Quote:For some reason it seems like the only people who avidly list these things are Lincoln Cent collectors. It's really the small denoms that get the strong clash design transfers so that has to be some of the reason. I've seen lately some almost full design transfer examples on 1c and 10c and the top clash at maddieclashes is a 5c. I was just looking up a clash on Morgan for a friend and he had a top 60 VAM clash but it wasn't that impressive to me.

You are correct, clashes on Morgans do not have as much transfer as other denominations and the top clashes have more to do with what is transferred, the "E" on the reverse and "G" on the obverse. Maybe the smaller dies have less room for play when they clash?
