Looks like it was reprocessed. If it is, there's no premium.

This came out of an BU OBW Roll....they have not been reprocessed! The rolls come from a reputable seller that has been doing this for years.

That doesn't always mean anything.
Is the edge of the coin shiny like the obverse and reverse? Is that a die crack on the reverse also?

They sides are shiny just like the rest of the pennies that came from roll.

If the edges are shiny like the rest of the coin, it suggests that it might be reprocessed. An original coin would have edges that show the steel core without any zinc plating. And the obverse and reverse surfaces look too reflective, without any luster. (Although that might be from the lighting)

But back to the original question:
I think that they may be small die chips.

determining if it is plating issues (from the mints original plating process is hard to tell with these images. The glare off the surfaces are washing out details and the natural color of the coin.

Just for kicks, are you able to post up an image of the paper roll the coin came out of? (even if it is an image from the seller)

I can only reflect on my experience -- About 12 years ago I acquired a 'BU' roll of steel cents from a reputable seller. Overall, the coins were pretty decent; however, 6-7 of the coins were plated/reprocessed. Yes, the outer edge of the rims were shiny in each case on the plated examples. The non-plated coins (with not shiny rims) were in the high AU range, with a few at the low end of the MS scale.

I appreciate all the responses Thank you!

The pictures really do make the coin look shiny using coin microscope. The following pics are using my phone under natural light. The luster is not lost when turning coin different angles. The OBW roll paper is from Manufacturers Bank Brooklyn NY.Standard Johnson Company.

Sorry for the small pics. I have to figure out resizing etc...I will go through the pennies one by one to determine if some are original and some recoated. Thanks again!

I think it isn't complicated to tell if the steel cent is reprocessed or not, would be harder to tell from over expose images.

Both don't matter. Sellers have been rerolling coins in old wrappers for years. And fudging on reviews. I can just about guess where these came from. Two different sellers, and they're both the same. I fell for it once, not again, if I can help it.
