Saw on another forum where NGC certified a plating bubble as an error. Think of the thousands of new submissions they will get if they start certifying common plating bubbles.

I've recently seen PCGS error slabs for Die Chips. So this doesn't exactly surprise me.

Please do yourself a GREAT favor and understand one of the worst places to try to leanr the ACTUAL coin hobby is social media, youtube, and ebay! There are some good youtube channels, but they won't be the ones with clickbait video saying you can get rich if you find "this" coin. There are SO MANY plating bubbles out there it is ridiculous. The person who paid the 200.00 (if it was their first submission_ to get that penny NGC slabbed had no idea what they are doing. WHy would a company grade such a ridiculous thing? B/c they get PAID to do so. They charge an extra fee for any attribution they put onto a slab. So the customer paid them and said, "please slab my plating bubble" and the company took the money and did so. Also...cute little nicknames given to things like this are influence by what I call ebay fads. Shysters try to find anything they can to HYPE it up and make people think it will be worth money some day. Thus they sucker people who don't do their homework out of hard earned money. Actual coin errors can be referenced at error-ref.com. Read it like a book. That is the real coin hobby and what the real cin hobby values. Not as fun as being entertained by youtubers trying to find ways to make videos that will get a lot of views (so they get paid more from youtube), but it also won;t mislead you into thinking something worth only face value is valuable.

Quote: slabbed plating bubble up for auction....sold 1 dollar + BP.. For $1 it would have a minimum $5 BP - so $6 + s&h for a plating bubble!
