Her Majesty would be great. It isn't too late to come back to the fold.....

But seriously, how about the Twin Towers?

I would like to see a 21st Century design having the bust of Liberty return to the Silver Dollar
and an Eagle on the reverse defending freedom and the pursuit of happiness.
No politician these days is worthy.

What Brannenworks and wheezydog said.

While I feel that the Sac dollars are nicely-designed (two kids on one obverse - how can you go wrong?) and the prez dollars are ... well, never mind what I think of them ... it's time to bring a classic design to the dollar. And NO dead people. Period.

How about Miss Liberty with a naughty smile and a wayward curl like on the Italian 100-lire coins of the mid-'90's? Definitely symbolic of the good life.

In my dream I would envision a competition by the mint to create a design that glories Liberty with a touch of modern perspective in art with the same on the Reverse but with the Eagle. In other words a modern art looking Morgan dollar (no Picasso's please..lol)

A two-headed Richard Nixon coin, and they could make it a $3 denomination.

If I remember right there was supposed to be Silver versions of the Presidential dollars minted. The RedBook even listed them that first year.......yet they were never minted.
This could be the same type of thing....
I always thought that the ASE 1 oz. Silver Dollar was a beauty ! (wish I had one for this year !) And it was known as a "big heavy Dollar"......so when you say a 5oz. Silver Dollar......I'm thinking HOLY MACKERAL !......THAT WOULD BE ONE MONSTROUS SIZED COIN ! ...
Who or what would I like to see on the obverse if this were to happen though !.......hmmm.........that would be quite the tribute !
Do you mean like the ASE program, in that, just one coin each year ....or like the State Qtrs. with every few months a new "grouping" of them coming out ?
How about one depicting a Mountain Man Rendezvous in the Rockies, giving merit to the "real" openers of the West ! Many interesting designs could be submitted for this ! There could be a "series" of accomplishments of Mountain Men and depictions featuring famous individuals whom we all know......or should know.
Every American should be required to watch the tv miniseries Centennial as well, by the way ! This should be a required book in School(James Michener) since it spans two Centuries of American history told in a way that could be ANY family's history, although the novel is fictional......it is SUCH an American family story.....just unbelievable !
But, it, of course, starts with Pascanel the French-Canadian Mountain Man exploring the West......and then two hundred years of his family after him progressing through "American History".
And I really think every American could use some "appreciation" of that kind of history right now. These "trappers" were SO VERY CRUCIAL IN OPENING UP THE WEST. And trade, and exploration, and finding routes through the mountains....just soooooo many different things.
Their importance to America is VERY HIGHLY UNDERVALUED AND UNDERAPPRECIATED BY THE GENERAL AMERICAN PUBLIC I BELIEVE !

So...That's my vote !

How about 56 different obverses to go with the different reverses, I sure would like to see a Teddy Roosevelt in the mix!

While I may not agree, I believe it was because that they thought the image of Liberty made the word "Liberty" superfluous.

For my design, the obverse would be 50 stars in the shape of a star with the shield in the center (think a big silver 3cent with a 5 point star). The reverse would be Liberty holding an eagle falconry style. Maybe I would swap the obverse with the reverse. Edge would have 13 evenly spaced stars and reeding between them.
