papeldog, that's exactly what I received in change; a 2002 Jubilee 50 cent coin.

We have 2010 sledge hockey quartes, and caribou quarters. Also, there are magnetic and non-magnetic cents for both 2009 and 2010. So far, there are no reports (to my knowledge) of magnetic 2010 cents in general circulation.

---I meant coins made for general circulation (I thought that was what the member who began this threat meant too) with the year 2010 minted on them.

---aren't the sledge hockey quarters minted with the year "2009" (and yes, released in 2010)

Sledges were issued March 18, 2010 but dated 2009 (originally intended for June 2009 launch but released during Paralympic Games instead)

Sorry -- my mistake. The date on the sledge hockey coins is indeed 2009. We may well have circulating 2010 magnetic cents by the end of the year. But as I indicated in my post, there are none so far.

Thanks for the updated 2010 listing. I'm glad there aren't alot of varieties this year as in the past few years with all the Olympic quarters. Makes collecting easier. From your list, I only have two 2010 coins to go!

Well, it depends on which coins such a set contains ;)

I have to agree. A little restraint in issuing coins isn't that bad, especially after what has happened in the last few years.
Of course, I am sure there a many collectors who disagree...

Good point. As in Canada and the USA I wish they would make commemoratives once in a while and not make it the norm. The USA has gone overboard with commemoratives: The State Park quarters, the Presidential dollars, and last year all the Lincoln Cent varieties. The Olympic quarters are a nice set and there was also the regular Calibou quarter so if you just wanted a 2009 Caribou and not bother with all the Olympic quarters you still could continue on with collecting.

Not so with the USA quarters.... no regular issue quarters and only the Territory quarters were available with the 2009 date.

looks like there's gonna be a rememberance day special issue something or other for circulation, too. Search the mint.ca website for poppy, it'll pop up.

You're right! That's another one to search out.

redlock, thanks for the list. Luckily I have them all. I'm just glad there aren't multiple quarters again this year so we can have a breather.
