Nice coin. Interesting rim toning. Very nice reverse, in spite of the carbon spots. May go 64, but I thinkg there's a little bit too much chatter on her face, and in the field in front of her nose for that, so I'm going 63.

its in a redfield hoard holder, the marks on the face are very very slight, much better in hand!

Ah, a Paramount! I remember the first time I saw those in person at a store back in the 80's. I remember the price tag they had on 'em too!  That's the thing with pictures, they can sometimes show more than can be seen by the naked eye, and can sometimes hide what would be seen by the naked eye. Still, a nice coin, and LaVere owned it! A beauty for sure and a month ago I'd have given it a solid 64. I just got back two from ANACS that were spotless on both the obverse and reverse with solid strikes - 65's in my book. Both of those came back 64. Things appear to be tightening up.

It has a (small) shot at 65, in my opinion, but probably has more value in the original Paramount holder. They're getting scarce. I suspect it would bring 65 money just because of the holder.

I've always loved the toning on these Redfield morgans, and that is a nice one!  As for the grading, there appears from the image to be enough going on in the fields and the cheek to limit the grade to 64. Paramount probably gave it a 65. JMHO.  |

I thought paramount slabbed some Morgans in the paramount holder other than Redfield coins. Does the slab say "From the Refield Collection"? I guess it doesn't matter, it's a sharp coin.

The Redfield collection has an interesting history, in general he bought silver by the bags ($1,000) figuring his money was protected by silver rather than the economy, he hid it around the property, once was robbed, and eventually he built a secret place to hide a fortune. discovered later they were basically graded by Paramount with 2 grades assigned, black labeled MS60, and Red labeled MS65 holders, here's the old Red holder... .google redfield hoard and you will find an interesting peice of history!!   |

The interpretation of 65 has changed over time, but THIS COIN IS BEAUTIFUL with a cool history.

I'll go along with 64. The toning is becoming the defining quality of this coin. You probably don't want to wait until it actually moves to the center to highlight the obverse device, but the "target toning" this coin is developing is excellent. Great buy!
