Yes, please; VW is inconclusive regarding specific attribution and I'd like to clear that up if we can. If you don't mind me spending your money, send it to John Roberts for a cross into ANACS and that'll settle things.

All seriousness aside, John is as close to the Man regarding VAMs as I know, and it's sheer serendipity that he does this for a major TPG. I trust his opinion without question.

Ok guys, I anxiously await what ya'll have to post OZ & Dave, who is John Roberts? This is very interesting & informative as I read ya'll posts I also have the privilege of expanding my knowledge. I'm glad I found this forum, since I've been here all of you have been more than helpful, & I've learned plenty. I enjoy reading the threads, using the books as well as vamworld to try to figure them out just a rookie yet, Thank You to all. I found formation on it in the VAM book, the D1a is listed as an R-3, I'll go to vamworld & see if I can see the difference.

John Roberts is the Director of Attribution Services at ANACS, and a hardcore VAMmer. He's responsible for many discoveries. He's the reason you hear me recommend ANACS over all other TPG's for Morgans. You'll find him posting over at VAMworld under the name "vampicker."

I'll chime in and agree with SD. John Roberts is a class act, all the way around. I always suggest that folks send their "questionable" coins to him first, rather than send coins directly to Leroy Van Allen. JR will call it straight.

Of course I am biased. JR has been my mentor the past 4 years. I could not have been luckier with the help, insight, patience, friendship and knowledge he has been gracious enough to share with me.

Ok Thanks, I can't tell the difference at all. Both 41A & 41B have the same pitting unless I'm missing something, the file lines look like the 41B because there is not enough of the bottom in the picture of the 41A for me to tell. I'll look him up find out what he wants me to do & mail him the coin.

How would I go about getting a Mentor? I assume it would have to be someone in my area correct?

No, I don't mind e-mail at all. I want to learn as much as I can. This is a very interesting Hobby, it also gives me a chance to relax as I read through the various threads. I try as best I can to follow along but as a beginner I run into stumbling blocks as is to be expected.

Kenny all I get is your profile, there is no e-mail link, mine is rlcbj59@Yahoo.com. I never thought about asking for a mentor. OZ, Dave, Aladin have been helping me along as well others. I appreciate the help. Lee

Hi Alan; I'm not OZ, but perhaps I can help. This link http://vamworld.com/Guidelines+for+Die+Varieties should help you out. Have you vetted the coin? It could save you a lot of time. Having someone with OZ's knowledge would be a good place to show what you have. Hope I was able to help...kenny

This is the reverse of a 1921P. I think it is a D2 reverse. The only thing unusual here is the horizontal raised bar extending to the right of the lower tail feathers.
Is anyone familiar with this?

I'm sorry but this topic is going to be virtually useless with tons of valuable info lost in a 40 page jumbled topic. I should have never let it get this far after I warned on page one. Please start a new topic for each question.
