it takes me 30 min to search 2000 customer wrapped dimes.. its easy really. just open the top end, shift them in one hand, scan the edge and pour them back into the wrapper.. really fast and easy.. I avoid plastic wrapped and shutgun fed wrapped to save on time..

SD, 40 rolls searched in 30 min isn't bad....but if you are doing 300-400+ rolls and have to be done in 2 hours or less....no way am I re-rolling.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...

i did $900 worth in about 1hr I think...every teller says WOA, did you roll those? uhm yes? it really doesn't take much skill if they are CWR to begin with. slide them out in your hand and slide them back in... 15 sec tops per roll

With the responses on here I need to ask what banks you guys use to that allow you to take back that much coin in a day unrolled without a charge. I have two banks that I have money at with several branches in the area and one bank allows as many rolls as you want back in a day, but I buy my boxes from them so I don't take them back there. The other bank allows 5 rolls a day per branch, or if they have a coin counter 50 bucks at the counter before you get charged 3%. There are 4 branches nearby so I can take back anywhere from 60 to 200 bucks a day and drive under 15 miles. It makes it a pain. So if there are any nationwide banks that have a coin counter and allow unlimited change in one day can someone tell me the name of the branch. It would save me lots of time and gas and you would have a special place in my heart lol

Rkrj, you have to locate a counter without a fee. You may also have to hold a minimum deposit with your bank. Some banks allow bagged loose coin deposits, and you see your money immediately, or days later. I had a sweet deal for awhile, where I turned over $500 bags of loose dimes or halves, and received cash then and there. You really have to do your footwork to find deals such as those.
Credit Unions are wonderful, banks aren't. I use banks to order coin, period.

I just mark my rolls with a simple line near one of the ends, but I'm tempted now to mark some as wheats or mercurys  |

I write on my rolls of dimes, this is silver do not sell. In case I die I don't want my wife to get scammed.

I'll usually mark the roll with an X or a K, and/or I will mark a roll of pennies buy putting a 2010 shield on each end, or a Westward Journey on both ends for nickels. Quote:

I mark the end coins with a black sharpie. A big X on each end.

you guys are lucky you don't have to re-roll and count, here in Canada have to count them and re-roll them, I mark my initials on them with a black marker

I have written 'Franklin' on a roll of BiCentennial halfs before, and dropped it at a bank I know to have a silver searching teller that also happens to be an obnoxious cow.
I am also guilty of marking coins that someone else has already, but only if the coins are in bad shape.

I picked up a few rolls of Nickels last week to look through, four of the rolls had a last name and a phone number on them. Maybe I should have gave them a call and thanked them for the War Nickels just to mess with'em  Didn't find any but there were a few dates from the 40's in there. Seriously, why in this day and age would you put your name and phone # on there? I mean I can remember as a kid putting our last name on the rolls we wrapped to cash in but that was the early 80's. No way I'd do that now. |

I just used my initials. As long as you and the tellers know, anything works.
