In addition to what's been mentioned already (keeping, selling or trading them) I have a couple more thoughts...
1 is to buy a cherrypicker's guide & see what else you might find; and
2 is to pass a few along to a younger collector.

+1. I'm still learning and I have my cherrypicker's guide coming in. I've saved everything so I can go back and look through them. Should be must easier now that I've sorted them by date and MM.

If there are some you need, and some you're willing to trade for, you can PM me and I'll see if I have any extras

Wheaties are definitely getting harder to find. I've served maybe 100 rolls this year and found only 7. I'd definitely hang on to them

I found a grand total of zero wheats in the last box of cents (1000 coins) I looked through. I guess that's not that unusual?

Well, I found four in six dollars worth.. So I'd say zero in ten dollars worth is a little below average..lol

I've thought about posting on here for trading my extra wheats and Jefferson nickels. I really just want a complete set and don't need all the extras. Of course I keep all the War Nickels and the "steel" cents. I wonder if there is anyone interested in trading these on here? I have a coffee can of Wheats as well as Jefferson nickels. All extras that I don't need. Seems like no matter how many boxes I roll search through, I don't find the years I need. It's an idea Spetti2000. You get what you need and help others in the process. I may try it too!

Quote:I wonder if there is anyone interested in trading these on here? I have a coffee can of Wheats as well as Jefferson nickels. Sure would be some interest. Like me. I have been collecting Liberty nickels for a while, and have just started on Buffalo nickels. But with the price of silver, that has made me change my mind. I think I'm going to start a Jefferson circulated set until about 1961 or so. Then anything after would be proofs only. I've already started on the proofs however I only have two War Nickels for the circulated set. I plan on picking up a box of nickels soon to work on that. So I definitely for one would be interested and I'm sure there would be others.

My friend helped the boy souts count and wrap $1000+ of cents they gathered somehow. They found about 70 wheats in 100,000 coins, and that was about ten years ago.

I got a bag of 5000 mostly 40s and 50s for $130. I will go through them and planned to roll and sell or trade on CL to see what I can get. Would you guys roll per year or decade? It would make it alot easier to go by decade.

I keep all min in a jar. I am trying to get to a thousand from roll searching. My box with 667 in it got me a lot closer to that!

You could do what I do. I started with an Album for those, same with all denominations. As I found or acquired a coin better than the one in the Album, it goes into the album and the ome in the Album goes into a 2x2, in a box, in order. As the box fills up, I acquire a new Album and start #2 with all those duplicates. Same with Album #3, then #4, etc. This system gets a little irritating when you find a great coin for Album #1. The one from #1 goes into #2, from #2 to #3, from #3 to #4 and on and on and on. This sometimes takes many hours and I usually wonder why, why, why. The above reason is why I have 10 Lincoln Albums, 12 Mercury dime Albums, 6 Indian Head cent Albums and on and on and on. I never sell coins although I have given some away so the amount of coins continues to grow and grow and growwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Here is the pecking order 1. The best of the best go in my Dansco 2. The best of the rest, I place in 2x2s and store in 2x2 storage box. I try to limit my boxes to four which is about 400 coins. 3. The rest I place in plastic tubes by year (not mintmark) and keep no more than a tube's worth of mixed mintmarks. 4. The worst I roll up by decade and try to get rid of. I will give them away or donate to auction at work for charity. 5. Repeat steps 1-4
