Oh, well I've only found one batch of 16 Ikes, and spent them at DQ after finding no silver.

LOL 40% silver.
Not all IKEs are 40% silver- only the "blue" and "brown" IKEs are 40%. Even then, not all S IKEs are 40%.
You want 70s "silver" IKEs- I'll ship you a hundred say for 4x face? LMK!

Ike's were often referred to as "Silver Dollars" even though only a small percentage of them actually contained AG.

For some reason people think they're silver dollars when only something like 5% of all ikes minted contained silver, even then 40% (which isn't THAT bad).
As for the OP - I do not call banks asking for ikes, I have no reason to.

I did that when I first started collecting...I was all excited cause I got 10 Ike's in that date range. It was a rookie mistake for me...but you learn as you go.
I would be extremely surprised if you found 20 S mints in circulation...they were never circulated. I suppose someone could have broke open 20 mint/proof coins...but yyyyIKEs!
The easiest way to tell if they are silver is to weigh them....24.59=Silver 22.68=Not Silver

I think what everyone is trying to tell you is the dates you mentioned have absolutely NO silver in them. Those coins are just worth a dollar because they are just clad. That is why the person said they spend them at DQ and another jokingly said they would sell some for 4x face, its because they have no silver in them at all.

Ikes are impossible to find at banks....they hate them. And, as others said, they are not silver.

All 1971-S and 1972-S Eisenhower dollars are 40% silver; no clad proofs minted those years. But I suppose your 's' was used as a plural, not a mint mark.

No reason not to keep the Ikes. They are getting harder to find, and being the last REAL dollar coins that were made, they should be kept. Decent circulated ones, VF or higher, will get you a small premium as well. Then if those 72s were one of the variants....
There is a lot to the Ikes.

Last month, I purchased 500 Ikes from another member, then used 475 of them at a local coin shop to buy some Morgan and Peace dollars for my collection.

I think your "friend" may not feel too friendly when he learns what this thread taught you.
