Quote: They haven't done those "Dollar Sets" since 2007 I believe (maybe '08) Which I'm not happy about, because I liked those ! ..... Yep, 2007 & 2008. I bought a bunch of both years especially the '08 when they were selling for just around spot price of silver...and you got the five $1 coins along with it I just have a feeling that they will be back for 2011...

I love how people keep saying until "silver settles down". *snort* People kill me. Silver is finally getting to the value it should have been a few years ago, let alone now, but they just cant accept it. It kills these folks who are so used to it being severely under valued and who have been able to manipulate premiums to suit their bias since the metal has been worth squat. When I say folks, I mean the older guys who have pretty much run the hobby and dictated values for so long. They just dont know how to handle this. Its amusing actually.
Proofs no more than bullion? LOL The cries of desperation. If soeone truly believe silver is going back down into the 18 bucks an ounce basement, they are deluding themselves. If the idiot in office doesn't crash the economy taxing everyone to death, silver will be 50 bucks by this time next year. If he does, then we will be using the silver to barter with for ammo and food.

I agree sadly........It isn't right or fair...but that's all there is here. "When silver goes back down.... THEN I'll get to see a premium for Proof and Uncirc. coins."....."but at THAT time, I'd have been better off selling before a drop in spot price." Heh Heh Heh..... ....this "theory" just smells like someone will be making money....but it won't be me ! But I do "get it"......I think.......It's benefiting "them" as businessmen, NOT their customers. It's a "cautious" "protective" measure that ensures they will "make money" NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS ! Maybe I should check out that whole ebay world everyone keeps talking about ! .. ...

Eaglefoot, You can always sell/trade those coins on here, it's always free and very easy.
So, in the mean time, don't worry about it and just enjoy the coins.

I just received my 2011 ASE today, I signed up for the subscription last month to be sure I got one. I am sure glad I did, I love this coin. I'm thinking of having it graded but am not sure. If it was to turnout to be a MS 70 I would, but it looks like there's one or two minor spots that may keep it from getting that grade. Any opinions form the senior members?

I made the mistake over a year and a half ago by selling several UNC ASE's to my local dealer, all in great shape but I got way under RedBook for them and was actually given under spot. If I hadn't needed the money so bad I would not have sold. But I do agree the coins do have a premium over the PM value but the only way to ever get that it seems, is to sell to an individual or sell on CCF.

mwr, if you like it, send it to ANACS. Nothing wrong with that.

The mint messed up our order: our subscription from the 14th was placed on hold while the manual order we placed for my father-in-law's birthday on the 16th was processed and shipped. I called the mint yesterday and they said the credit card denied the first order...but we used the same one for the second order. Oh well, my father-in-law (who is totally great, BTW) will get his first!

Tracking says mine left Grove City, Ohio two days ago, so should be here any day. Going to check it out and perhaps order a second if I like it enough.

Got my two yesterday... ...the box was waiting for me on my doorstep when I got home from work ! Mine are "officially" IN - HAND now ! They seem to be really good specimens..... Though I haven't glassed them under a light yet. I'm still gonna just sit on these for some time.......I may keep them forever....dunno. I do like the idea of maybe trading for something here on CCF. I dunno about sending mine off for grading....I think it's kind of hard NOT to get a nice MS-68 to a MS-69 Burnished one from the Mint. They pretty much all will average that grade I think. Yeah the premium might be nice for a perfect 70, but with the cost I've already been through, plus the cost of grading, I just don't want to put ANY MORE MONEY into these two Eagles, than I already have now. And with my "local" avenue of selling them already well described.....YICK ! Selling or trading here on CCF......? ......I do still need a raw '14D Lincoln for my Dancso ! .... .... Maybe I could put a nice little trading package together with "several" Eagles in it! But, I just can't crack my slabbed '14-D ! It needs to stay in the slab for several reasons. Well, anyway..... I'll take a couple of months to think about this.......who knows.. ....I may need the cash for them this Holiday season too..... And if the economy doesn't start improving here locally.....I may have to be selling my Proofs ! ...

****Behold The Power of The Internet**** I'd tell those dealers to taking a flying leap. Thats where your issue lies. These guys are husling people! And other shops are in cahoots with each other so it looks as if this is legit. And it cons people into selling. Look at completed listings on E-Bay, do a search their to guage a price, This is what people are paying. Are you uncomfortable with selling a coin online. Sure theirs some fees, but nothing to where your you'll whine up with half what you paid. I watch bullion ASE's sell $5 - $10 over spot. I received my email Monday, that they were being shipped. I have'nt seen them yet. Maybe today.
