Hello all. I came across this Washington dollar bill. I noticed that in the image of Washington. There appears to be white smudges or maybe smears of something. I was wondering if you all could give me your thought on what it might be. Thank you in advance and stay blessed

I would have preferred to see a photo of each side instead of two of the front.
With damage, unlike an error, it is hard to say exactly the cause. It is possible that
it is caused by something rubbing the surface or by wear. It is still worth a dollar though.

Looks just to be some excess wear. Maybe ran through a washing machine cycle?

I agree. Looks like a lightly circulated dollar bill.

Almost a RADAR note.

For $1 I would keep it.

That said, WRONG SUB.

Looks pretty crisp, I wonder if someone ironed it before spending.
When I was a kid, I would iron my bills....

I've accidentally run bills through the wash and had them come out looking similar to this.
You might wonder how it is that they don't disintegrate like ordinary paper usually does.
US Notes are printed on paper that is not a wood product, it is composed of 25% linen and 75% cotton.

Greasy Fingers, did you also iron jeans and underwear? :^p

Well You called it, I can't lie, yes and only when I was 100% sure they'd be needed to be.
